I think if they are building a wall they can do that in many parts but I think the issue with this is you cannot see through or what is being done on the other side which is why many pushed for Iron slats. If you have patrols on the other side or cameras set ups you can see people approaching and have some alarm warning system that might scare away people from trying to scale the wall. Lot of good ideas that don't entail $25 billion dollar.
I will leave the debate to the professional civil engineers. It would be interesting to see how any of the firms proposing these demo walls arrived at their pricing however.
Likely a Republican affiliated to Trump. I'd have so many autonomous rovers and sensors over those 55 miles with 1.5 billion, that if someone made it through, he should be hired at DARPA.
Ann Coulter’s Twitter is pretty wild right now. So if you think this phony national emergency is Trump fighting for a border wall you are one of Trump’s stupidest voters according to Coulter.
Voters are not necessarily stupid if they have been misled. That said, it is very possible Trump’s base is in fact being misled. The Wall, as may be planned now, is not immingration reform or even effective border security. The Government shutdown did hurt Trump in the polls. Trump’s base strongly wants the wall. Another Government shutdown that is long term could adversly affect the economy, probably hurting Trump’s reelection chances. The solution Trump chose cements into law several anti-wall provisions while leaving the outcome of his emergency declaration to the mercy of the courts. The Democrats have several very strong arguments against Trump’s emergency declaration. At least DACA was left out. Trump may try to do the wet noodle by claiming he tried, but those “damn Dems” and the “corrupt courts” were against him and America. I suspect enough of Trump’s base is smart enough to see through that and in so doing, effectively hands the Presidency to the Democratic nominee, regardless of their sex, philiosophy, or color. Edit: Sometimes it is better to admit you were wrong on an issue, take the political damage, and move on hoping there will be enough time to heal those wounds with your base. Perhaps overdelivering in another atea could compensate for voter disappointment.
This is an important point. The "system" is pretty ineffective in many ways were those who legally are coming here are waiting years in a dead locked system and those who are coming here illegally have free rides on a lot of services. Since 60% of illegals are visa overstays who enter through airports here are some ideas: Start labelling and categorizing origins of people with the most visas/tourist cards issues who show no record of leaving and are presumed overstays. Let's say it is France hypothetically. Easy to start restricting visas or require more stringent visa requirements and fees on entrants from those countries as a message to that country to start policing its citizens who travel here better or pay up. either tell your people to stop coming here legal and overstaying to become illegal or we start restricting who can come here as punishment. Everyone who enters must be recorded with detailed information and when their visa/tourist date passes, their information is used to track them down. I beleive we simply ignore those who overstay and after several years you now have a few hundred thousand and it is too late to start going after all of them. Tracking means we can give them a grace period to GTFO and still come back in future properly or after advanced warning they become eligible for being kicked out/banned for a period of time. You tell overstays with clean records and compelling reasons you will give them a path to A legal status but NO citizenship. They report to the ICE offices and file paperwork to receive a work permit and proof of self sustainability and they can never apply for citizenship or sponsor anyone ever. No three strikes, you messed up and we can make you a productive member of society but you will never be one of us. You spend a year with a process were overtsayers or illegals with clean records come out of the shadows and get valid work permits. Then make it know that any company that hire someone without the valid paperwork/ID will be fined heavily. Puts the incentive on employers to not take in those who choose not to use the system and also have something where someone applies to work without the ID and is eligible, you put them in the process within 90 days. Bottom line is make employers and emloyees both liable with a system that stops under the table illegal hires and removes incentives. These will cut down drastically the largest drain on immigration - overstays. Once these are in place. More resources can then be directed to making the Southern Border firm with various entry points that can process people legally quickly. Barriers in high traffic locations and more technology and alarms to signal when people are approaching or crossing barriers. build outposts in various areas to have more presence. Criminals don't enter houses with high tech alarm systems and cameras and rapid response, we can apply that. Engage Mexico to do their part as well by not bullying them (you will pay for the wall) or threatening them (will eliminate NAFTA) but maybe a tax on every Mexican citizen caught crossing and sent back might work. When it hits Mexico's pocket they might be more inclined to patrol their side as well in conjunction with border patrol.
Yes, I agree, voters were misled. Trump came down from New York City carpetbagging, talking about you’ve all been hoodwinked by a corrupt system and he is the only one who can fix it. And it will be so easy. You’re going to get tired of winning. Here’s the truth, the coasts are getting all of the jobs and the rich are getting paid off and “flyover country” is getting flown over still. A wall will not make any difference in crime or the economy of the rust belt and coal country. It was a scam because it really will take a lot of hard work and coordination between government and private enterprises to get these areas revived and a lot of people living in these areas are going to have to change their ways and skills to be successful. But who wants to vote for hard work and cooperation when you’re being told by a billionaire from New York City it will be soooo easy you’ll get tired of winning. The entire trump presidency is a crock of shit and a waste of time and money.
Even the right wings biggest idiot is getting in on it Tomi to Trump: If You Approve This Border Deal, 'You're Making a Yuge Mistake Feb 13, 2019 // 8:00pm Tomi Lahren offered her "Final Thoughts" on Fox Nation in regard to the bipartisan border security compromise expected to hit President Trump's desk this week. "Our president might be on the verge of accepting a horrible deal from the Democrats," Lahren said. The deal is being composed by a committee headed by Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), with Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) leading the GOP. Lahren said the deal is expected to provide only a "measly amount of funding for the wall," but at the same time hand the Democrats "a list of concessions that in my mind are completely, totally, and unarguably unacceptable." "This is just a deal 'in principle', so as of now, nothing has been decided," Lahren noted, adding that the "rumored" amount of border funding will be $1.375 billion for fencing construction. Trump initially demanded $5.7 billion toward a physical wall. "Our president and United States Border Patrol Agents asked for a steel and concrete barrier but in this so-called “deal” the type of barrier is much different- just a short, thick post," she said. "President Trump, if you take this deal, as laid out “in principle,” you are making one colossal, YUGE mistake," Lahren added. "[If] you take this deal with these concessions, you will lose in 2020. Your supporters, me included, will not stand by your side while Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer walk all over you, at our expense." LOL!!!!! https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehil...tional-emergency-is-that-our-president-is?amp Coulter fires back at Trump: 'Only national emergency is that our president is an idiot' Ann Coulter fired back at President Trump on Friday, stating that "the only national emergency is that our president is an idiot" in a radio interview on Friday afternoon. Coulter was responding to Trump's comment earlier on Friday calling out the conservative firebrand as being "off the reservation." He made the remark during a press conference at the White House after he declared a national emergency on the southern border. "Thank God he's relieved me any responsibility for what he's been doing," Coulter told KABC's Morning Drive on Friday. "That was the biggest favor anyone could do for me today." "It was one thing, the promise he made every single day at every single speech. Forget the fact that he's digging his own grave," Coulter added. "The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot."
