If any woman can do it, she will. I've known her, and her game, since she was in college in Tucson. She's talented, determined and never quits. It's 'wall-to-wall' coverage on USA/TV.
It's a 'package' - you gotta take the good with the bad!! She's in the middle of the pack. She just might make the 'cut'. We'll see. Now, if my buddies at the local golf course will just let me play from the 'Red Tees', I may have a chance with my high-handicap!! Hell, I'll even were a dress if it helps. . . . .
I actually thought she might really go high today, but I have to admit she played beautifully. Not that many guys on tour will routinely stick fairway woods pin high, like she does. As well as she played, I'm not sure she can keep it up or even if it will be good enough to make the cut. But she sure silenced a lot of doubters today.
I like golf and play it and I'm all for women's involvement in the sport but does it warrant putting her score on top of the indices on CNBC? Who is in charge of the screen design over there, that red-headed kid in the Ameritrade commercials?
Missed only one fairway and only 3 greens I believe. If she had any feel on the greens she'd have been at maybe 67 or 68 ... 33 putts isn't gonna let anyone shoot low ... missed a few birdie putts inside 10 feet and had two 3 putts for her only bogeys. I was intrigued so much that I blew off trading for most of the day.
She's never been a great 'putter'. She's usually won through precise full swing shots and intelligent shot selection. Yeah, she surprised me a bit. Especially when she was under par for a little bit! But, doen't look like 'turnabout will be fair play' for a guy to play on the girls' tour?? P.S. - had the golf match on all day, CNBC was 'picture-in-picture' and missed the graphics mentioned above. I'm sick of CNBC, sick of Cramer, sick of Tyler, even getting tired of Maria. . . . . Need 24-hour trader coverage - give me Cashin, the Man boys in Chicago or someone else we're battling with and against!!
