VAMI is an equity curve based on monthly returns. If you plot using monthly bars on a log scale and then draw a line of best fit you effectively have an indicator. Deviation from the line will give you an idea how "linear" the equity curve is.
Thanks for the idea Gary. I'm interested in doing this with a stock scanner websites. Some let you write formulas. I think K-Ratio takes the VAMI and uses it with linear regression as you describe.
