Obviously if i knew the right questions to ask i probably wouldnt fucking be here, i would be trading somewhere weird on my laptop like tim sykes
i just took a screenshot to ask a specific question about a specific pattern so people dont fucking get sidetracked by whether i should trade that stock or not. Every time i post more info the adhd gang here gets into some weird fn discussion unrelated to my question.
Aren’t algorithms everywhere ? Must be more programs than traders. One trader can use multiple algorithms. They all have different purposes.
That's a way too generic question, there are thousands of algorithms and you won't be able to work them out from a chart. To give you an idea of the amplitude of algorithmic trading you can have a look at pages like: https://www.mql5.com/en/market/mt4 That is just one platform and one language, so you can imagine how many algos you can find out there. Way too many. If you want to get to algorithmic trading you have to learn one programming language first, as in the very first steps of the language regardless of the applications you want to build with it. Then, when you master the language you can get to algo-trading. Do not try to use code that you see on the internet before mastering the language. c++ or c# are two very robust and reliable languages. So you might want to start with that. What seems to be obvious is that if your time&sales window is not showing any action you might be looking at one exchange only, that asset might be trading in several exchanges and most of the action is happening in another exchange that you don't have visibility to. Also include trading pools that might not be available to you. Double check where is your data coming from with your provider.
webull. i dont know anything about what you just said. i understand the exchanges partially but i have no idea where my data is coming from or even was aware that its something i should know or could know. my original question was about that specific linear pattern that repeats i saw it in another stock. CLVT for example its very obvious on a one second time frame and doesnt really show up that much on higher time frames. all i want is to understand what i see on charts lol and thats basically what all my questiosn here come down to. i want to understand what im looking at. the second question i asked was about learning more about algos which is secondary to my original question (more of a sidequest)

Surprised to see programtrading still around. Additionally, one can go to https://www.indexarb.com/ I haven't gotten into the direct feed from NYSE yet https://www.nyse.com/market-data/real-time/imbalances
Also, this one is relevant here. A fuckin' Ph.D researcher takes on NYSE internals! https://traderfeed.blogspot.com/2006/10/tiki-dow-tick-and-program-trading.html#:~:text=Because the Dow stocks are,60), but hardly perfectly.
