Anyone here ever try Wim Hof breathwork?

  1. I don't doubt what you say, and as I mentioned I haven't tried either. I only do cold showers. So I will take your word for it. Thing is, being especially risk averse about such matters, I'm inclined to think that something can go wrong with the cryo machinery, which could possibly result in an undesirable outcome, whereas that can't really happen with water. Not saying it's likely, just that it's not beyond the possible.

Also, I imagine it's even more expensive now than it was when you reported on it in 2015. Just so you know, we don't all own The #1 Site for Financial Traders. Since 1997. :D

I have been debating spending the money to try the cryo tank business locally. It is definitely more costly than 4 20 lb ice bags from Costco. At the same time I would be interested to compare it to the ice bath.

Antonio Brown managed to get frostbite on his feet from a cryo tank, but I think it was him being stupid and not wearing foot protection.

cold plunge and ice baths are two different temperatures, I'm thinking. The ice baths i've done are 34-36 degrees while a cold plunge is in the 50's. I'm gonna repeat myself lol. the best health anything is SLEEP ;o)

    1. We use a freezer chest with a temp switch to shut off and turn on so it prevents water from freezing. keeps it at 34-37.
    2. Never done a cryo but ice baths have great results in the 2-3 min range no need for more.
    3. I use THC for this :D

Do you change the water in the chest freezer often? I have thought about trying that as an option and having it set up in the garage.

Its at my buddy's house and yes he does change the water. I just don't know how often, I can ask. I believe it has a plug near the bottom and he might have it elevated just a tad from the other side. 2-3 people I know have this same set up.

Thanks, I figure it probably needs to be changed out every so often, and it makes sense there would be a plug near the base.
Frederick, I don't do a whole lot of anything these days and for me it is test of will power and another way to meditate. I used to be more inclined to test the bounds of stupidity, in a lot of cases, and that worked for keeping my mind in a good state. I have been thinking of trying to get into shape for doing triathlons or some other form of physical abuse for the same reasons. I'm not as concerned with winning anything as just pushing myself past limits. In the olden days I pushed hard in various things I was involved in and I can honestly say that it was good for my mind space, but I didn't realize it at the time. I'll give you all to much info here(the beauty of anonymity), awhile ago I had some rough times and ended up actually going in and sitting down with a shrink and therapist. After running through too much with them and trying some other things that didn't help out at all, i.e. prescription drugs(hope they work for some people, for me they were a nightmare, literally), I got going on meditation and it helped. The one thing they pointed out to me was that it would be best for me to find things that challenge me physically and mentally, as I had built that into who I was from my experiences as a kid and younger adult. With a family I was mainly following the kids to their sporting stuff, but not really doing anything. It kept me occupied at the time. Now the kids are mostly out and about, I need to find stupid things again to keep me functioning and my mind working in a positive direction.
I could ramble on, but that is enough TMI for today.
    Peace
