The boxers do because it is still amateur and winning a medal is how many get launched into their careers (i.e. Lomachenko)
I think the U.S. has already proven you can have atheltic competitions now with the right precautions. the Olympic village can be a bubble and control in and out and limit the fans there. I don't see why the Olympics could not still go on with no issues..
Once they have the win unlike other Olympic athletes they no longer need the medal to make money.Their value isn't going to drop after they were declared the winner than stripped because of kneeling,it will only start their pro career off with more publicity with the media praising their actions.Roy Jones being cheated out of his medal helped the start of his pro career far more than if he would have won it.
i think it is better for them to just focus on winning their medal and starting their career. I think as mostly amatuers they should put protest aside and go and win and get that coin. Once they win and have media attention if they want to speak out they can go for it. The Olympics is not a U.S. event so no one wnats to hear our bullshit and we don't want to hear other people's bullshit.
They would get far more media attention if they win a medal and than stripped for peaceful protest imo.I cant remember the last time I seen an Olympic boxer get mainstream media attention.
Well in the boxing world, olympic boxers get a lot of attention.. i dont think they need to protest in Tokyo though
