Don't try to beat the market !
    Beat your old self !

If a trader can't earn money,
it is not the market problem.
    It is a trader's problem.

    So don't blame the market.

    If you're talking about trading...

Spend more time studying your charts and learning how you as a trader interact with the markets in real-time. Thus, spend equal amount of time on learning from real-time price action equal to learning from hindsight static charts.

Post a lot of questions about what you see on your charts and spend less time asking questions without charts to prevent falling down the rabbit hole of psycho-analysis of someone's replies to your questions that have no charts.

Personally, I don't trust anyone that ask questions about trading without them posting charts and without disclosing what they're doing in their trading.

By the way, very few retail traders can be consistently profitable. Sure, you're going to meet a few people online that have some success but don't get caught up with that...just focus on studying the charts (real-time, hindsight). Also, forget about the hedge fund comparisons unless you plan to work for a hedge fund as an institutional trader or algorithm trader.

  5. Whether you can beat the market depends on which market, what time, and you. I've been beating SPY since 1984. I have tweeted all my trades before I made them since June, 2019, @RandomFour

  7. That's pretty good considering SPY has only been trading since 1993.

I'm a private retail trader. Warren Buffet is not and neither are hedge funds. So it'd be surprising if they're doing what I'm doing and doing it in the same way. So why should there be any comparability between our respective performances?

  10. Market is very volatile and you don't know how it's going to play. You just need to be disciplined and constant.
