Highly agreed mate! A consistent practice can definitely help traders to attain and build a strong trading mindset.
Trading Psychology: how to get a successful mindset by Timothy Sykes. Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas is a good book as well. Books and courses can tell you ways to control your emotions. However, they won’t permanently fix them. Other than reading books, you need to implement your learnings throughout trading.
Psychology is something that cannot be learnt in a course, it’s something you learn only with experience.
You can read all the good books about trading psychology but it still won’t make any difference. Psychology doesn’t work the way that someone tells you the downsides of negative emotions, how to deal with it and you automatically start behaving better. It needs a lot of discipline and self control to balance your psychology and you have to practice for that.
Self Awareness is key. Even the BSD's here at Elite who deride the mental aspects of trading as worthless work from within that framework, they're simply too arrogant / confident / egotistical to admit or even see it. Like Bouffant said above.... Psych Books are great. Both Tendler and Douglas IMHO are the goto sources, but that's just what I found helped me come to terms with MY PERSONAL Psychological make up... Everyone is different. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that the psych books will give you some tools, but you need to be self aware enough to realise what your specific triggers and strengths and weaknesses are and then use the tools say that Douglas gives you in Trading in the Zone in order to get to a place where YOU are able to operate in the markets with the right mental framework... Trading is a pattern recognition numbers game.... My Fear / Anxiety ceased when I finally got that mental model locked in.
Trading in the zone by Marl Douglas is very popular book on trading psychology. You can refer to that. But make sure you implement what you read otherwise it would be a complete waste of time.
Absolutely! Books and courses can only guide you. Your readings will be of no use if you do not design a set of rules and implement them to control emotions which you face during trading.
