Canada Housing Starts Fall Less than Expected

The seasonally adjusted annual rates of housing starts in Canada fell 1.9 percent from a month earlier to 210,069 units in February 2020, but above market forecasts of 205,000, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Urban starts also declined by 1.9 percent to 199,304 units, ass multiple urban starts dropped by 6.1 percent to 146,072 units while single-detached urban starts went up by 11.9 percent to 53,232 units. Rural starts were estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 10,765 units
