Is there any special (has a name) day that occurs once or more each month?

Sure, for the Jews. It's called the Sabbath, starting on Friday at sunset and lasting about 24 hours. They can't do pretty much anything except sit around for God. Hell, every modern oven has a "Sabbath setting", which prevents it from accidentally being turned on during Sabbath, lest you offend God. Sounds like a holiday to me!
