  1. I agree with you Mark and indeed there are many rooms.

But ET room is somewhat unique and I like it.

  2. Good luck and log-in problems with ET chat is not the only reason why most don't use it.

  3. Chat down again.

BTW, I think it is a strategic mistake to restrict ET to just forum rather than full community portal for traders like most modern competitor sites.

Mark, WTF are you talking about? You were never in ET chat that i saw so where do you get the nerve to say ET chat is bad?
ET chat was just great as Cf and others said. The only problem has been not knowing if it will be up or not.

mark........lets hear what the "OTHER" problems that you "CLAIM" as the "MANY" other problems.

What is your agenda in wanting to see ET chat never working again?

PS: Markepoo boy....lets see your proof of ET members have formed "MANY" chat rooms and a few have over "100" members.

Yes i know, embellished a bit but i fight fire with more fire. :p  :D

  5. First of all, you doing some embellishing...

No way and I'll be shocked if you've done this before with many others before me (sarcasm).

Secondly, you were never in ET chat when I visited it for a few trading days (a few hours each) over a few weeks several years ago.

If you were there...you weren't in there as bighog.

Here's a list of problems I saw when I visited the ET chat that correlates with all the complaints I've seen over the years that followed here in the feedback section:

    * Log-in problems

    * Moderator baiting members into a fight so that they can kick the members out (ET members complaining about such).

    * Political and Religious arguments carried over into the live chat from the forum (ET members complaining about such long after I stopped visiting).

    * Complaints about racist postings in ET chat (ET members complaining about such long after I stopped visiting).

By the way, I do remember seeing a few of your own message posts here in feedback about problems in ET chat

    What's up with that.

Now...the link above is just one of several by you and many by others that goes beyond the...

    Help, live-chat is down.

Here's one quick message post I found via ET search out of many from 2008 (long after I made my decision never to visit ET chat again).

Therefore, why would you say the following after you are on record here a few times yourself complaining about chat problems that has nothing to do with chat being down?

    * ...ET chat was just great as Cf and others said. The only problem has been not knowing if it will be up or not.

It's possible that your enjoyment of ET chat is much better after you were banned (temporary kicked for the day or several days from it)...

Seems like the ban straighten you out via you updated opinion about ET live-chat?

Further, I'm not debating the merits of your views that change back-n-forth over the years.

I simply stated my opinion when I visited the chat room that correlates with the personal experiences of others that discussed their personal experiences in ET chat.

By the way, if you want proof of real-time chat rooms started by former ET members...

Go to the Financialchat and Othernet server...

Type in the following command line...

    /list.

Next, log into a bunch of chat rooms and post the following public message every few hours...

How many of you are current or former ET members?

Next, then send those that said YES a private message and ask them why they don't hang out in ET chat.

I guarantee that log-in problems isn't at the top of the list.

Next, ask the moderators of those chat rooms how many of them are former or inactive ET members.

In addition, you can also take a look at new discussion forums (not older than EliteTrader.com).

Some of them were formed by former or inactive ET members (e.g. priceaction.net, traderslaboratory.com, babypips.com, mypivots.com and others)...

(many here at ET already know the ET members in charge of the above mentioned forums...if you don't...do your homework and ask others here if you're truly curious)

All continuing to grow with former ET members that you really can label as inactive considering there's no way to delete your own ET membership.

Regardless, I think you get my point.

    If not...

Get off your lazy butt and get your own proof.

I have no intentions of doing the work for you beyond what I have stated in this thread via your own quote, quote by another ET member and a short list of forums started by former ET members.

Like many say and I agree...this place is for entertainment and that still makes it useful.

For the record, when I visited ET chat...

I never had any log-in problems with ET chat although I was a little confused about how to get in for my first log-in.

P.S. I do realize your talking about ET live chat this year in comparison to my opinions about ET chat in the prior years.

Yet, my facts about former ET members starting live-chats or forums is current information that's not difficult to research on your own without any hand-holding from me.

  6. Former members indeed start their own sites and chats. Such facts exist.

And Baron should understand that ET should stay in competitive shape which assumes a decent traders chat as a part of online community.

If ET stops evolving and drops down to just forum, it will soon lose much of it's worth as a business as competitors are much more active in attracting people to use their sites.

I agree that sometimes ET chat turned into a zoo, but is that a reason to get rid of it completely?

Of course no! It's a reason to reconsider moderation policy, adjust something, add something and make it attract MORE people.

Otherwise, current trend of development of ET as a community is degeneration, not evolution.

I (and think many others too) noticed that quality of forum posts dropped lately. Is that a reason to close forum as well? Or maybe change something?

  7. Oh, by the way... Chat is down again.

    #357     Apr 17, 2009
  8. And must add, that despite all seeming non-seriousness of ET chat I learnt more about trading from it than during all years before I started to visit it in 2007.

One just should be able to see the gold among the dirt.
