For the record: Doesn't matter to me, food is food and alcohol is alcohol.... And time doesn't matter to me either, just make sure it's after 1pm, cause that's usually when my hangovers end. I'm easy to please
Alright, but I too am confused now...there is the grand Feb. 28 get together, but there seems to be some interest getting together this week as well. I want to confirm that the Feb. 28 Saturday is still on as that is the main one in my calendar (and the one where I need to block off 2 days--one for the 28, and also the 29, for recovery if necessary). This week it seems as there is some interest on Wednesday for a get together for a few in this thread. Anyone wishing to do that should just meet JoeT at Cactus as designated. For the 28th, I can decide on a place (I believe the meet time was around 4:00pm), but I think the general fear in doing this is that location seems to be consistently questioned by those who hail from areas without a 312 or 773 area code (my god I remember when 312 went all the way up to the Wisconsin border...now I feel old). I think Joe, saxon, cwj and ice see the loop as more central for everyone since there is are people from several different suburbs. So, for the 28th, let's start with unanimous agreement on Chicago/downtown. Also there is the benefit that those who actually trade at the merc/cbot/cboe might be able to join us with more ease and then we all can enjoy some "Pit Bull"-like stories if they care to tell us. So, is Chicago ok for the 28th? If we can get an agreement for this, then I will find someplace that is large enough, diverse enough (i.e., I won't suggest going to Excalibur or The Pump Room), and fun. But before making that decision, I do need to get a final head count on definites. If there are too many people who feel Chicago is just not possible, then I will relinquish the party-planning reigns as I only go to the suburbs if I need a new bookshelf from IKEA, and someone else can pick the place. Glad to hear it, Joe. THIS Wednesday (2/11): Looks like the jt/cwj/demonet/saxon/et al gathering at Cactus 4:00pm is on!! Anyone else who wants to join us is welcome. THE 28th: Whatever demonet & the rest of you guys want to do is cool with me. As long as it's not 6am on a Sunday in Springfield or something, I'll be there. saxon
Minutes of the 1st meeting of the Chicago ET Club: All stinking drunk, much (too) much talk about trading, cool new friends, much to learn, well worth doing, all come next time. The 28TH !! saxon
Got that right! Had a blast, and I think I was volunteered to do something, I'll remember it when I wake up in a few hours, with a hint of a headache. For those who didn't show up, you missed a FREE DRINK. Yes, you saw correct.. FREE DRINK. The Chivas Regal girls were there, and somehow, our table(s) got selected (or they went to every table offering a free drink of Chivas) Man oh man. Back to bed for me, cj
Yes, I will chime in here as another ETer who was fully in attendance last night (caveat though that attendance was in physical form only as my mental faculties diminished significantly after 2 hours of merriment and lager ....and oh yeah, that damn scotch!). It was a lot of fun; interesting to meet other traders who trade different issues/intruments or methods than me. The skill levels at the table were varied as well (yes, I was bringing up the rear), which also made the conversations entertaining and insightful. For those of you who couldn't make it, I highly recommend Feb 28th (our next planned date for a Chicago ET meet). I will have the location for everyone in a few days). I will also try to prepare a short agenda of some activities (not like mini-golf, but just eateries, etc.). I think the best part about the group meeting was, as I stated somewhere earlier in this thread, the fact that I cannot usually talk to the people I do know (i.e. not on the web) about trading without them nodding off into their soup from boredom, so it was a terrific outlet to get some great discussions going regarding the market. Fun... Keep the 28th free!! Parker
It was sure nice meeting with all of you guys and I hope we can do it again soon. I'm sorry to miss the 28th but hope we can schedule something again the following month. Cheers, Joe T.
