Copper?

I'm certainly no Elon Musk, but why can't we just send some spaceship bees to mine gold, silver, nickel, lithium, cobalt, et alia and toss it back to earth with some parachutes? Didn't we just land a rover on mars? I don't see what the problem is.

 

I suggest you watch the 2009 movie Moon - they were mining Helium-3 on the Moon and sending it back to Earth.
