Manchin killed Build Back better (Biden's bill) and left us only with American Rescue Plan. He then went on to kill Build back Better Act.

    beats not trying anything

apples and oranges. DreamAct for wall deal was not repurposing funds already allocated elsewhere.

You're right, nobody knows, and that is a problem. Obama not telling every American that he had a bunch of obstructionists not working for the American people on every speech he gave was a problem. Compare this debt ceiling raise messaging to the last time the Repugs tried to pull this stunt and attack ads by dems were deployed on the GQP holding up federal wages.

It's clear we're not going to see eye to eye on this and just engaging in mental masturbation now. I was were you were 2 elections ago. Tony was were you were one election ago (we had a very antagonistic debate on DreamAct for wall just like you and I are now). Maybe you'll be where we are at 1 or 2 elections from now.

The only thing I can say is dems are a disappointment and our best bet in the future is them becoming the new repugs and the progs splintering becoming the new dems w/the GOP going the way of the Whigs. That can't happen if the GOP regains power. Sitting it out or voting 3rd party is a miscalculation that can realistically result in trans and educators getting tossed in jail, women losing more rights, or Ukraine being sacrificed to a dictatorial regime. I've explained this to Tony and he doesn't think it's a realistic outcome. There's nothing I can do to change someone's mind on realistic risks other than point to SCOTUS. I can't do anything about someone who won't compromise their values understanding those risks, or do anything about ivory tower virtue signaling mofos who don't even care about considering those risks. I just disagree that they're all on the 3rd camp is all.

But this is what happens when you only have 50 Senators.

How do you know they didn't try?

The 'wall' was never happening, nobody believed it was even possible - that's why there was no funding. Even the money Trump diverted was just for show, he wanted to build some samples for his re-election campaign.

But Lieberman was going to retire at the end of his term, how would telling Americans about his behavior help?

Problem is you guys think that you can just vote every four years and politicians will just do everything they endorsed. Unless, promises were for executive orders, everything else is dependent on a lot of other politicians. Things take time, most important thing is to keep the other side from gaining power who would undo whatever progress is made and do more damage. Apparently this is lost on progressives who love to throw tantrums.

Dems got thin majorities after 10 years and they are already disappointed in these two years for not getting everything passed. Every few years, the same Dems need to see Rethug destruction to get back to voting Democrat, this back and forth every few years is exactly the reason things don't progress.

We expect something to be done, and at the very least try.Endorsing 15 min wage than giving up on it entirely after an unelected parliamentarian says no is not trying.Giving up the first time being told no has been the norm with nearly all of Biden progressive promises.

We don't expect to be stabbed in the back like Biden did with police reform, unions, fracking, debt limit deal etc.

Your anger is misplaced,it should be directed at the person who stabbed in the back so many people who voted for him.

With labor market so strong, there is no point pushing for minimum wage now. No way Manchin or Sinema agree to it.

As for the parlimentarian, if she was bypassed and the bill was indeed passed, Supreme Court would have struck it down because the progs have put 7 right wingers in the court.

He shouldn't have promised it when asking people for their vote.

If he would have started with the stick in the beginning with Manchin or Sinema who knows what they would have done.

The Dem party could have added seats to the court in Bidens first 2 years. Not only didn't Biden try he is against it.

Call it border enforcement, call it the wall. Point is dems were willing to give him what was it 20B for Dream Act. Cons would've lined up.

So take EO's then. Biden started w/a flurry of them to reverse Trump trash and was well received by the base for it. Then he stopped at that. Rescheduling doesn't take congress's approval (and I don't partake), there likely a bunch of shit he could do on policing from the Executive. Student debt was another one. Trump went out there and called aluminum and steel imports a national security threat. Why isn't the condition of roads and bridges, the coverage of millions of Americans from future pandemics, the outsourcing of specialized labor, the plummeting literacy and education competitiveness in comparison to aggressors not a nat. sec issue if fucking steel is? The lack of creativity is outstanding. I don't expect these solutions to survive a court challenge but we haven't even challenged all the trash Trump pushed forth which still stands. DACA itself is being challenged going on now 10 yrs....on procedural grounds.

Taking L's isn't as bad as not showing your base who forced the L.

I won't deny there is (or was) a serious case of voter apathy. I just don't get putting the bulk of the blame on voters.

By this logic Cornel West shouldn't promise anything, he should run an empty campaign because nothing he promises is doable.

Unlike Biden we know he would try and actually believes and supports the promises he makes.
