    Link?

And how do you define early? Wouldn't 'early' be immediately after a potus learned how dangerous the virus was?

I'll wait for your response before we consider the actual timeline.

EDIT: Also define 'shutting down,' as I may have some news for you there too.

"Shutting down travel from China"??? -- he let 40,000 people fly here after his "shut down" without quarantining for 14 days. Then did the same thing again with Europe.

The reality is that there is plenty of blame to go around for politicians in the early days of the COVID crisis --- so I will cut them some slack. However in early April and beyond it was very clear what a dangerous fiasco this pandemic was and a proper national response was required. Trump failed. Not only did he fail -- he deliberately did not respond at a federal level since he thought the virus decimating blue states would be good for him politically -- as documented by many sources now.

You are so full of shit... the EU as a group has higher cases per million and
plenty of countries do as well.

1 day or 7 day rolling average... does no matter these are all higher infections per million.

    UK
    Netherlands
    spain
    france
    Italy
    just to name a few...

Ireland does not that was mistake... I clicked back to the percent positives page... so I deleted that post and started again.

Politically and optically the correct move.

    Realistically, already too late.

Why are we even bringing this up?

Shutting down China while allowing "exempt" folks (about 40k of them...some infected) after the so called travel ban of China along with the fact that infected Europe was still wide open to land at the U.S. major airports for almost another month after the China travel ban.

It was a complete joke and Canada did almost the exact same thing.

Just as bad, they used people at the airports to ask "questionnaires" like "Do you feel sick", "Do you have a temperature" of those exempt to enter the U.S. and Canada.

It took another few weeks before a complete ban (No China...No Europeans) was used in North America but it was too late...infection had already started to multiply exponentially very quickly.

Guess what...that was too late and those that enter with exempt status were allowed to enter places like Montréal, Toronto, New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami without any mandatory quarantine...just a recommendation...no testing.

It then got worst with those travel bans...those crossing from United States to Canada or vice versa that were very wealthy...they used private jets or charter a private jet to cross the borders when the borders were closed.

Just as bad, Canada allowed all the snowbirds to return back from "Florida" without any testing and a recommendation to self-isolate for 14 days upon return entry back into Canada.
    • When my neighbour here in Québec returned back from his 2nd home in Florida. No testing, had to answer a few questions, show his passport and enter Canada...told to self-isolate for 14 days.
It was later learned from late contact tracing that the "snowbirds" was the 2nd major route of infection into Canada behind the Air Travel...all while there were so called travel bans. :banghead:

China wasn't innocent too...they gave their citizens a 2 week warning to escape the infected cities prior to closing their airports. Over a million people left China...many infected and travel back to Europe, United States, Canada and other countries. :D
    • Pure comical...a clusterfuck response by everybody
Trudeau administration and Trump administration...both screwed up while pretending they jumped on this from the start. The differences in the response was that Trudeau didn't downplay it, didn't refer to it as a hoax, didn't pretend its like the Flu...

He was scared out of the gate but maybe because his wife Sophia became infected when she was in Europe and fell ill (mild illness) when she returned back to Canada and they had to self-isolate...her in one part of their home and Trudeau in another part of the home.

Simply, it wasn't a political game to Trudeau while it was to Trump.

I wonder if that is what happens if and when one of them gets a cold sore. Do they separate to "different parts of their home" for 14 days?

Jesus. Who the hell has a house big enough where the man and wife can truly separate for 14 days and have no contact with each other?

So much for the "and until death do us part" bit.

Sophia is a good looking woman...

I'm sure he sneaked into her room a few nights just to hear her tell him she still has a bad headache after he mistook the fever from her as "moaning". :D
