Global oil prices also took a hit amid fears that the emergence of a new strain, possibly resistant to vaccines, would result in a global economic activity slowdown akin to the one witnessed in 2020 and hence a reduced demand for crude. The benchmark blend of oil, Brent, took a dive by 11.26% from $82.26 down to around $72.84 per barrel. Can't believe I was too chicken shit to take a position to take advantage of it. So mad at myself. Did anyone else notice that WHO skipped a letter in the greek alphabet in naming this variant? Scientists were fully expecting it to be named "nu" using "n" as the next alphabet but WHO totally skipped "n" and went straight to "o" and named it "omicron". Wonder if this has to do with the number of mutations on it that it's mutated so much that it needed to move two letters to name it?
