DIS - Announce theme parks reopen - Light at the end of the tunnel

Irrespective of T, my point is that re-opening of theme parks is a big milestone for an actual "return-to-normal."

The big question is _when_.

In my opinion, DIS re-opening theme parks is the tell. Keep an eye on it, and look for an upspike.

And IMO the tell is leveling off (or less parabolic at least) of U.S. new infected/deaths rate.

 

Great points, streaming and movies should do well. Pricey crowded theme parks will not recover until c vaccine and cure are released And consumer confidence And jobs return next year.

DIS is a great company to own, but I'm not buying yet

 

Safer bet that they can reopen by labor day, Sep 7. Not memorial day on may 25, which is just 7 weeks away.

 

Then they lose all that summer revenue.

 

Yes. I think that's what flattening the curve entails. You need 50% to 70% to have antibodies for herd immunity. But you can't have 150M to 200M cases of Covid-19 in the US all in just 7 weeks, or you overload the hospitals and cause mass deaths. So you quarantine to have those infections spread over a longer period of time.
