Treasury yields are setting up to invert and make a significant jump.

  2. This marks the end of the bond market and that an almost certain Oct '87 like crash will happen within the next 3 years. You have to let the market bleed to wash out the weak hands. Government intervention is never a good thing.

Mr. Chan, diversifying out of equities was the best decision you've ever made.

I feel sorry for those long-vol guys. The VIX will gap and blow out many, many accounts.

Wow, that was quick. Lot more to go. Crazy markets!

This should coincide with another sinking of the s&p around 5.4% and 1500

Long term down trend continues here. I am delighted at the opportunity to short again at higher levels. There should be some very good shorting areas in the near term as the short covering rally exhausts itself.

  5. Well, if the short selling ban stays and applied across the whole US stock mkt, we will enter the Japan stock mkt post ban era - nothing goes up or down, simply stuck at a comfort zone. The initial rise will mean a lot of resistance once it sits at a profitable zone for most index component holders.

Trading stocks and indices 1/2 of my life (so far) ... exploring other trading opportunities is about time :)

Here is my thoughts after thinking seriously about the ban.

An interesting issue coming out of this problem - call buyers will not be able to hedge, CFD writing firms will not be able to hedge, short side index ETF will not be able to hedge, etc.

So, a new problem is created - much bigger than what the ban is intended to solve. A 30 days ban can cause a real systematic melt down of the complete US financial system.

Edit: Japan did not have that many deriatives at the time it applied the ban on its stock mkt.

  6. what will happen is, other significant sectors in the sp500 will be targeted, since the fundamental picture hasn't changed. We are in a long basing out pattern with the lows being retested.

some sectors are: retail, consumer discretionary spending...

    LC,

They've gone totally insane to cover their lazy, incompetent, arrogant, self-serving, corrupt, lying, cheating asses. It's all they can do to save US, but for how long?

I've just shorted QQQQ to lock in the calls, no problem there. (Not long ago they made it easy to short by eliminating the up tick rule!)
