The US is in trouble because Trump isn't going to back down on his tariffs enough. It takes time for the impacts to hit the economy and most of his tariffs have not even been implemented yet. Canada is instructive because we were ready to strike back but gave Trump a chance to come to his senses and he hasn't. Basically if you attack Canada you open up our market to overseas partners and encourage us to put maximum tariffs on stuff you need ( eg rare metals, Oil, electricity, potash ). US GDP -0.5%, Canada +0.5% This is important because a lot of people kept saying Canada was in more trouble than the US on a trade war and I don't think it's playing out that way. Nobodies really worried here except autoworkers and steel manufacturers ( who already have to deal with I believe a 50% tariff ). We're going to freeze out Trump and hit him where it hurts politically. The man contradicts himself daily how can you have 'all the cards' when you absolutely need our exports in several sectors. Remember when Ford said we'll tax our electricity how fast they jumped.
The thing is as the world leading economy he could have put a 5% tariff on everyone and they would have paid it. Sure, prices would go up but he would have had that headline tariff figure to brag about. He's too stupid to leverage our edge.

I think to some extent that was the original plan. Except 10% not 5%./ Come at countries with threats of 40% and settle on 10% the number you wanted from day 1. I actually have no problem with the 10% tariff rate if that money went to good causes. Not to feed the rich. To balance the budget. But alas the wild verbiage and TACO afterwords and the instability of the thinking and the non economists making suggestions and the crazy people around the president, it all adds up to a feeling of no plan. No plan at all. So what we get is a series of lies. And greedy wall st sucks it up in a pathetic way. Prices for everything is already through the roof. Go try and buy something. We are truly whistling in the wind.
I went through the defense names to see if I could find a replacement for Kratos and the name I came up with is Parson's. Why?/ It's on sale.
