  1. I doubt it.

We expect republicans to stand fast and protect our rights. They can filibuster this in the Senate , and they can defeat any bills in the House.

If they wimp out on this, I honestly don't know why we need them. We elect people to stand tall when it is tough. Anyone can vote for popular bills or oppose unpopular ones.

Virtually every republican was elected on a pledge not to raise taxes, which they are about to break, and a promise to protect gun rights. If they break both promises, they all deserve to be recalled.

Exactly. And when you move guns to the underground (which is what banning them would do - especially when there are already several hundred million in circulation) then you get a whole host of other crimes that will accompany illicit dealing in them.

This is why I say there will never be banning of anything. That ship has sailed long ago.

A better comparison to banning guns would be prohibition, since that already had alcohol in circulation when that ban was put into place). That worked great.

I lost any confidence in Boner a long time ago, brother AAA.
I invite you to become interested in the libertarian party.

Is there anyone who thinks that Obama and Boner are not discussing positions on gun control in with the fiscal cliff talks?

  5. They're probably just shooting the shit over beer for a couple of weeks. They already know what they're going to agree to. A wild ass guess on my part.

There is a pattern to it.

I remember when Bearice used to post rationally, was a pretty nice guy and didn't exhibit any signs of instability. Then suddenly he flipped out, started spamming and saying strange stuff and eventually appeared to be banned.

I remember when RCG was a very genial guy, posted rationally and humorously and didn't make outlandish claims regarding his past. Then he flipped out, first towards Lucrum and then more generally towards anyone who either disagreed with him or anyone who challenged him about his claims of being a commando, a pilot, a weapons expert, a successful currency trader and some others I have forgotten. Now it could be argued that he is the most disagreeable and racist person posting in P&R. He started calling people "toothless rednecks", things like that. Now he seems to be taking a break from ET despite initiating a trading challenge and starting a trading journal. Weird.

I remember when atticus was riskarb and was a reasonable guy with a pretty good trading reputation. Then he changed his nickname (not sure why, banned maybe?) and started getting into big fights with people and developed a habit of "busting" people where he would fabricate some "evidence" that they weren't being truthful about their background, trading or some other personal aspect and then run about in a kind of end-zone dance. I got a small taste of it myself when I disagree with him about gun control and received a bunch of PMs saying that the guy was tracking down ET members and calling their employers or other similar invasive acts. Usually there is some kind of bet involved with him demanding "proof". The point is there was a big change in demeanor followed by combative behavior. Crazy.

For years I regarded BSAM as interesting with something to say. He was normal, not overly combative, had a mix of political views with some view from the left, some from the right and was pretty calm. Now he is in the process of flipping out, lashing out at those who disagree and taking every issue as a personal affront. If he stays on course he'll start railing against "righties" and develop deeper and deeper resentment towards those he regards to be conservative.

Remember cgroupman? He started out as a very nice guy, courteous, thoughtful and sporting a centrist set of political values but slowly began to express hatred towards the conservatives in P&R and then he actually flipped out, starting using aliases (including very recently) and once even showed up saying he was doing academic research and had a list of people and some uncomplimentary comments about each one. If I remember correctly you and I were both on that list.

Let see, who else? Well you probably know what I mean. Some guys go along for years relatively normal and then flip out on ET and start seeing everyone as an enemy and themselves as being a persecuted soul. Either ET is some kind of trigger or there is alot more mental illness out there than you would expect.
