But the guy only hits 4 GIR's. Assuming he averages around 2 putts per GIR, there's 8. On the other 14 holes, he has 23 putts. Gets up in down a little bit less than half the time. He probably isn't even doing that but I can see low 30's putts per round if a guy basically misses almost all of the greens.

Another problem with the stats is that on some courses you might play fairways 40-50 yards wide (especially resort courses), whereas on a tree lined old country club some of those fairways will be half the width. Likewise, greens on older courses can tend to be on the small size and hence less GIR's. I've played courses back in the day (especially the resort ones) where they might be loaded with bunkers, water, etc but it was all just eye candy. They weren't really in play with the enormous fairways and greens and you could conceivably hit just about every fairway and every green, but it would also be very difficult to have 31 putts if you did so.

  2. Frisky knows his stuff. A low number of total putts generally means, at least for good players, that they missed a lot of greens. A rec hack getting up and down 40+% of the time though is pretty freakin' good. Tour average is around 50-60% as I recall. I don't have stats but my observation is anyone with a double digit handicap is lucky to get up and down 25% of the time.

I expect to be cleared to hit drive on Mon and I will once again begin the work of increasing my swing speed. --Goal now for the rest of this year is to score at 85 consistently. I believe I will get there.

Once reaching the green, it's easy to 2 putt or 1 putt most of the time. It doesn't matter whether or not I hit the green in regulation for this to occur. Mind you, I am not playing at Pebble Beach or St Andrews.

    B1 B1 B1... lol
I know you like me and you're just trying to troll me down here and get me to post.... don't think you're fooling me... but I'll humor ya for a moment.

A 20 foot putt is a 20 foot putt no matter where you play. Its 20 feet out buddy. Now once again, as you have done a half dozen times in this thread... you show your naivety about the game B1.

You would much rather have a 10 footer for par at Pebble Beach than on some pos, open to the public, greens with bare spots and sand everywhere course. Your putt is going to read truer and the roll will exhibit a far greater consistency as you go from green to green on a great course regardless of the moisture content and the cut/grain. A top greens-keeper keeps his greens consistent. It makes it much easier to get the feel for the day. Not so at some dump. The only thing that changes really on a good course is... depending on what time you start... they usually get faster the higher the sun gets. Obviously. I use to hate early tee-times. Much easier to get a consistent feel when you start at after 1PM.

You're still obsessed with that swing speed huh? :D
The only thing I have maintained in this thread and chastised you about... is what I know to be FACT... the harder you hit that driver, the less control you have and the more likely the shot is going to go just about anywhere but where you need it to go.
If you are one of the few that can smack a driver and keep it straight... you go B1. Break mach-1 with that club-head.

Now you're gonna write whatever you write...but you're not fooling me Izzy. The faster you swing that driver... the shittier your shot's gonna be. If you think otherwise... you once again broadcast your lack of experience on the links. You are not "the exception". Sorry Izz. Slow it down, hit it straight. You'll score better.

You miss most of what I am talking about. Greens on courses that amateurs play are smaller than pros regardless of the condition and can be easily 2 putted. I tried to give you and others plenty of clues to understand but it went straight past. This is one of the reasons that amateurs need to focus on long straight driving.

Omg. B1.... do you really play golf? Seriously.

First of all, Pebble Beach has greens that are smaller than anything you have EVER played on. They are the tiniest on the tour. So there's that.

Second... golf course designers/architects... when they design a course B1.... one of their overriding criterion in their design is taking into account the number of rounds that will be played each year on that course. High traffic courses need bigger greens. Wear and tear dude. They need more regulation pin placement positions so they can spread out the traffic patterns. A small green at a busy public course won't make it an entire season without severe damage.

"Greens on courses that amateurs play are smaller than pros regardless of the condition".

You come up with the most bone-headed statements... you just talk out your ass and make sweeping generalizations about things you obviously know nothing about.

    Edit... yeah... huge greens. https://www.google.com/maps/@36.578432,-121.9652171,367m/data=!3m1!1e3

He is definitely on the spectrum.

Broad, vague, generalized statements like the above, "Greens on courses that amateurs play are smaller than the pros", lol...where does one even begin with that.

Ask Einstein about Colonial Country Club in Ft Worth. How about Harbour Town Links?

"can be easily 2 putted". I'd like to know his stats 6 feet and in.

This thread is all you need to know about what he pulls out his arse in the other threads. Guy is a joke.
