Even Matt Kuchar, who swings flatter than anyone else and basically has a one plane swing, still has the same sequence and shoulder turn. The biggest difference between the amateur and the professional is shoulder turn---no question about it.

Back with the binary statements. "The only thing that counts IS". "The single difference between". yada, yada, yada. Forget about ever achieving that shoulder turn at your age. Why don't you model your swing after guys on the Champions Tour? Kuchar, DJ, Rory, etc. have flexibility in their hips that you will never have, hence you will never get into those positions at the top of your swing.

One of the neatest things to learn from these sequences is the way that the pro player uses the heel portion of the feet extensively in order to balance and push against the ground for maximum torque.

That's all BS. You'll never be any good thinking about all that stuff while you swing. You develop your swing at young age, with or without lessons, and it naturally evolves as you grow older if you stay with the game.

You obviously started late. If you hit it straight, try to repeat that swing. Don't worry about what it looks like. Its about results and what works for you. Quit trying to model your swing on someone you'll never be. Just hit the f'n ball. As straight and far as you can.

You've probably never heard of Moe Norman. Canadian cat. In all the Hall of Fame's up there. Won tons and tons of tournaments. Hated the U.S. PGA; he was a character, probably told them to F/O.
Anyway, the guy was incredibly accurate. Legend has it he could deliberately bank a shot off a tree or cart path if he had to.
Point is.... look at his swing.

    Edit... here B1 read this.
    Proves everything I've said.:

    https://www.golf.com/instruction/2018/10/10/moe-norman-golf-swing-video-legend-shot-tracer

Only two golfers in the history of the game ever owned their swings, according to Tiger Woods: Ben Hogan and Moe Norman.

“The problem is that many players have so many movements and rotations in their swing, which makes them very reliant on timing,” he says. “Moe’s swing relied on very simple basics. The way he hit it consistently because he made it very easy for himself to get back to impact.”

YOUR TAKEAWAY? If you’re struggling with consistency from tee to green, take a page from Moe’s book. Step back, evaluate, and consider simplifying as many of the movements in your golf swing as possible.

Excellent swing speed session on Fri. ---Watched Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler swing videos on youtube numerous times and worked to incorporate the hip sequence into the swing strength that I have built up. It took about an hour to get the rhythm down as initially I lost swing speed. However, about an hour in, I recorded 3 swings --120, 121 and 122 MPH. Very exciting now!

My golf game quality has increased now to the point that I can start shooting in the 70s soon. I've been able to stop any slice by bowing the left wrist and using the correct hip club sequence. ---using correct spine tilt and grip etc I have been able to increase my swing speed to an average of 112 mph with occasional swings in the low 120s. ---I used a 3 wood from 235 out on a par 5 yesterday and landed on the green. ----It's a very exciting time for me!

How far are you hitting your driver with that speed?

Normally 250 to 260 carry. It was quite a bit less before hip replacement.----I think a pro would hit more square than that with a better launch angle and smash factor.
This would be on the normal speed. I hit the 120s about 275 carry---but those are rare. (The 112s were rare before)

When you say 250 carry is the ball rolling out much?

Are you in a part of the country that allows you to play all year. Golf is done for the year in the frozen north. I'll head for Arizona in a month or so.
