The point is that for East Asians and Indians education is the surest way out of poverty and to gain economic and social status. Living in Singapore where the education system is one of the best in the world, there is no miracle for their success, it's hard work, both in class and after school studies, and competitive.
I'm not advocating for this strict type of education but it explains why they perform very well in entrance exams, and why they end up in the upper echelons of corporate life and in middle and upper middle classes. Their sacrifices pay off.
We Americans live for the present and often lack ambitions. We encourage soft skills because we can't compete in hard skills, we demand colleges modify their entrance requirements because our kids can't make the grades.

That would depend on the field of study in question. If it's math and science, yes there would be a disproportionally higher number of admittance among Asians which includes Eastern Indians who are referred to as South Asians. But if you are looking at Liberal Arts, that would not tend to be the case.

Not just education but right combination of education and mindset

University degree as a measure of education means zero.

4-5 years for university degree is just waste of time unless he clearly sees the reason for obtaining it - getting phd, medicine etc.

Many people do university just mechanically as the next step after school

I find university education broadens your horizon and makes you see things from a higher level and allows you to explore ideas and concepts that you have never thought of before but to land a job in a field that you like, you need to couple university education with practical work experience programs like internships and co-op arrangements.

I don't know your background but university is quite crowded field now and unless you're ready to compete with asians academically just total waste of time
USA still holds but Canada increased its population through immigration 4% this year
1 in 25 people who lives in canada came just last year and mostly from Asia. They are mostly young and hungry
And they flood universities. There is no escape

plus AI will make many degrees redundant and displace many people into blue colar in the coming years. Asians don't understand that but I do

to have somewhat enjoyable life you need to think out of the box and really open your horizons
running business is much more rewarding and allows you to hire asians and choose them not compete

and yes, I have university degree
