I hear you I just can't it doesn't qualify on a lot of levels. Just one the one that matters - it goes straight up. This whole sector is a fad. Index funds are being created etc. My work says the stock is worth $18.40 on a good day.
That song reminds me... Joe Dimaggio... Back in the early 90's a bunch of people I know down in Miami bought this stupid ass stock for like $3.50 a share. I told em it was bs... a bunch of New Yorkers running a boiler room.... no one listened... because this company somehow got tied up with Joe Dimaggio signing friggin baseball bats and selling them on QVC or whatever it was then They lost every penny. And I mean they went in large. Like $100K large.
Check it out. Ya gotta love the internet. SPORTS COMPANY HIRES MARKETER AS NEW PRESIDENT DAVID ALTANER Business WriterSUN-SENTINEL March 3, 1995 A well-known South Florida marketing executive has been named to head a sports and entertainment company involved in everything from selling Joe DiMaggio-autographed bats to trying to revive roller derby. The company, Madison Sports and Entertainment Group, has also moved from Kingston, N.Y., to Fort Lauderdale. Jack Drury, 64, was named president of the company. Drury has a long history in local sports and entertainment marketing; he has managed Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. He left Harris Drury Cohen advertising agency in 1988. The company has eclectic interests in sports and marketing. Last year, the company offered Joe DiMaggio-autographed bats which were sold on Home Shopping Network for $4,000 each, Drury said. It also owns the rights to 13 roller derby matches from the 1970s that it plans to sell to cable companies, he said. It also hopes to revive roller derby as a choreographed event, kind of like professional wrestling, he said. Last year, Madison bought Drury's company, National Media, which had been marketing a Bob Hope golf video, Shanks for the Memories. It also owns 130 episodes of a Baby Boomer favorite, Howdy Doody. Drury said Madison expects to employ about a dozen people, most of which will be hired locally. Its thinly traded stock closed Thursday at 11/2, up 5/32. That's down from a 52-week high of 4 49/64. Charles Grodin The role:Benjamin Braddock Who got it:Dustin Hoffman A young Charles Grodin was almost cast in the lead role. Here he is telling how things didn’t work out in a2008 interview: I was the first choice forThe Graduateso people assume I turned it down. I was the first choice, but they still want to see you on film, and before they’ll put you on film you have to commit to the contract. They offered me a seven-year contract with options all on their end, and to star in “The Graduate,” if they choose to use me, it was going to be $500 a week. I was always more governed by a sense of right and wrong than I was by money, I just didn’t focus on it, but I just thought $500 a week to star in this huge movie was an inappropriate amount of money. It wasn’t about the money; I just thought it was not appropriate.I think we settled at $1,000 a week, but then they delivered me 10 pages of dialogue to do a screen test the next morning. I phoned Mike Nichols and said I can’t do this overnight. He said it was just a photographic test, but I knew I couldn’t be very good. If they had given me three days to prepare, I think I would have gotten the role.
