Trading for Teenies. A Teenie was 1/16 of a dollar. Options were quoted in 1/16 and traders on the floor were either Teenie buyers or sellers.

1978 was first trade in stock market of 100 shares of IBM, Commission was $125.

Go to library and copy microfilm prices of each day of grains so I could draw by hand charts. Did that for 20 years even though had computer few years later. Learned much doing by hand.

Early 90's S&P 500 margins cut in half to $12,500 and commissions went from $40 roundturn to $25, able to call floor.

1995 commissions went down to $12.50, had to keep in account more than $125,000 to do 10 lot.

Forgot year S&P cut in half to $250 a point and each tick was a dime at $25, margins becames $6500 and commissions were $10, had to double size for same bucks.

E-MINI came out to get smaller traders, my commissions actually increased to get same bang for bucks to trade Had to increase to 100.

Any time exchanges makes changes, it benefits them.

Am glad I learned in 70s/80s/90s as there was few books and no videos, learned by doing and backtesting. Way too much stuff out there now.

What software did you use? I used the DOS version of Ensign. This was before GUI and www. You either started trading at a very young age or you are OLD lol. God willing I’ll make my 72nd trip around the Sun in 2 months.
