  5. At this time..it might be a good idea to talk about the reason US manufacturing began to off-shore all of their production.

In the 1970s..there were several Inflation shocks to the US markets and to US manufacturing. Some of the Inflation was caused by the Saudi Oil embargo. But the foundation of the inflation began with unions. Huge unions in Auto manufacturing (Detroit), Steel manufacturing (pittsburg), Long Shoreman Unions (logistics), Truckers Unions(teamsters). These unions became powerful enough to spike wages many times thru the 1970s into the early 1980s. Many other manufacturing industries followed this trend. By the early 1980s, wages became so high..USA lost most of its Steel and metals Industry, Japan took huge portions of the US auto industry and the industries that remained moved their manufacturing off-shore (mostly to asia). As the electronics industry (Japan/korea) and then the PC industry(southeast asia/taiwan) emerged, US manufacturing was already noncompetitive. US manufacturers moved all of their production overseas to stay competitive. The midwest became a rust belt. By the late 1980s, even the US space industry (challenger), rail industry. Textiles (carolinas) and Chemical Industry(Delaware) were crumbling.

Many of these industries kept moving to lower and lower wage base countries. Pretty much all of these industries are completely offshore. The cities that held these industries lost all of their factory jobs thru extreme high wages. Inflation stayed around longer that people thought it would. By the time inflation was tamed..most of US manufacturing had been re-located oversea. The requirements for large energy and petrol had diminished greatly. Offshoring of labor, reduced requirements of high energy and oil use are major ways to reduce runaway inflation. And actually, deflation and stagnation began to occur..particularly in the midwest and deep south.

Europe had held onto their industry and manufacturing thru high taxes, high tariffs and cheap sources of energy and oil from Russia. Today, the US again has high inflation and high wages. And now we have a lack of cheap raw materials, metals, rare earths and a poorly maintained logistics and transportation system.

There has already been some re-shoring and resurrection of US industries. SpaceX has saved the Space industry. Tesla has re-established the US automotive industry. Buffet has been investing in and rebuilding industries such as US railroad industry, general logistics and textiles to a much lesser degree. However, Boeing has re-located major manufacturing to the deep south in an attempt to avoid off-shoring with mixed results. It seems Boeing would love to off-shore to a mexico type country but has been persuaded to stay somewhere in USA>
