Thanks for your concern - if you note my past postings, I agree customer service is A++! and the data is fast. Please see my past post about comparing you to Track. Now, why do I not suggest you for realtime system?? 1. The OnMouseMove is buggy. Connecting is very important! This causes problems. When this is fixed, in next API i will feel better about realtime system. 2. I still have a problem with diconnect - when I disconnet, IQ feed keeps 9 threads open on my PC! I traced this to you. I can write a lenghthy program to Enum all threads and get rid of IQ threads (you guys start these without me knowing!), but the work is not needed now. In realtime system, this is important (when disconnect happens, since I am still having 9 threads active with you, my CPU goes through the roof!). I have addressed this with developers, they tell me it is known about. 3. Multiple symbols - your system cuts me off after 9 history clients are connected. Fine. I will get history, and the disconnect. BUT, clearly shown on the IQ manager window (that blue task bar app.), by clients connected, this grows, until it hits 9- at 9, i cant get anymore symbols (my histroy stops - you guys think i have 9 clients connected!). I explicity close the thread each time. This is bug on your end. I spoke to support, and got unclear answers. Now connect / disconnect is very important, no matter what you say. In between, I am very happy (quotes) ALTHOUGH different data on different servers in EMINis scare me. I can live with it, if it is rare. Another inconvienience is finding poor data, or bug, and having to stop my development every time to work it out - I am on a rapid protocal personal schedule, and I can work around these problem. My hope, is that this will all be fixed in next API - i will see then, if not, then I will have no choice but to inform you, and if we cant work it out, I am sorry for you, but this is not relaible enough for real time system. Again, in between, you guys are great. I hope this helps to improve your system.
IQfeed guys, Thanks for taking time to post here. Is there a trial for the API? (I don't mind paying for one month of the feed, but I'd like to demo the activeX API before I drop $300 on an experiment). TIA, -b
While you wait for IQ to answer..... I asked this too, they informed me that serious developers usually dont require API before they try ( to evaluate), so no, they would not do this. For the transaction of this communication, search this forum for IQ - it happened back in October. Maybe they will waive it for you? That would be nice.
So is there a monthly fee to use this full broadcast feed in lieu of the API? (confused) Do you have a link for the details of the full broadcast feed which starts at $129/mo ? Also, do you have any documentation about the API or broadcast feed? TIA, -b
The full broadcast feed is called DTN Real-Time. We don't have much online about it, but there is some basic information at http://www.dtnma.com/template.cfm?u...roup1=individual&subgroup2=satdelivery&view=1 . It is a satellite feed. $200 init fee gets the hardware, then $129/month for equities data plus exchange fees. The API for the satellite is essentially a protocol definition document. It is not trivial to program to. The SDK costs $400 one time fee. Some basic information about the SDK is available at http://www.dtn.com/developer/. We also offer a free 30 day trial to the DTN Real-Time service. Jay
IQFeed_Dev: Can the ActiveX interface be used for streaming data? The API description on iqfeed site says: "Two types of interfaces are used in the IQFeed API: a socket based interface for streaming data, and COM or TCP/IP based interfaces for lookups and historical data/news retrieval."
I use IQFeed DDE (the Quote Tracker deal someone else alluded to earlier in this thread) and it's very accurate and reliable. I can compare somewhat accurately because I also use Money.Net and IB's quote feeds. Elvis
