Not at all. TL's work - with qualifiers. Not just, ok it crossed a line go long or go short. Bam, print money. Some thought has to be put into it or they are just pure random nonsense.
I'm pretty sure this strategy won't work because it's apparently free money. This is why I want to try it. UVXY basically always decreases except for when it spikes. It doesn't spike very often it seems. So just buy puts and take the loss when it spikes (and then buy more puts). Or you can buy calls and wait and wait and wait and wait and you might nab a spike. You want one huge winner and bunch of small losses or a bunch of small winners and one huge loss? All trading is the same, picking from those two. Or you can do strangles. But probably premium is too large for that. Then you need a massive move in either direction, which basically means a spike up, in which case, just buy calls.
Today the contract I bought is worth even more even though UVXY is higher than it was. Rather perplexing.
