Jeb Bush running of donors, cuts staff... yet he is still trying?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by jem, Oct 23, 2015.

  1. That's most likely the exact logic his donors used to rationalize funding him...there are alot of "pieces" that make sense in so far as attracting various voting blocks, unfortunately for him, the potential gains amongst one voting class completely alienate him from another crucial voting block...Most RINO's have been following this playbook; they placate their core voting block with the usual litany of platitudes and then aggressively sell them out to try and attract another group...

I think that Jeb's strategy might have worked a decade ago (assuming his brother never was President), but it's too late in the game and there are too many disillusioned conservatives and/or independents who won't vote for Hillary, but definitely won't vote for Jeb.

Half these candidates are probably stalking horses to siphon votes away from someone else.

  5. Bush family gathers to rescue Jeb

His famous family rallies around to attempt to revive his flagging campaign.

HOUSTON — This closed-door summit for Jeb Bush’s richest donors was meant to be a pep rally, a reunion for loyalists eager to celebrate the family legacy with two former presidents.

But as George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush draw supporters together under gray skies and unrelenting rains, the gathering has become a rescue operation for a candidate who looks unable to meet the expectations of the family brand.

“The patient is either in intensive care and in need of some good doctors who can save him or being put into hospice and we’re going to see a slow death," said one K Street lobbyist supporting Bush.

Indeed, the man who, it was expected, would be leading the Republican field by a mile, who raised astounding sums in his first months as a candidate, is now on life support, according to people inside the two-day meeting. With the campaign gasping for air, slashing costs and narrowing a national strategy to a New Hampshire approach, investor confidence is cracking.

update... Bush may finally be understanding what we have been saying.

I heard am radio on while driving back from a hair cut this morning.... an ad saying Michael Reagan says Jeb is the only conservative in the race.
That he aggressively slashed taxes as governor and mentioned other conservative goodness. It was the first effective message I had heard out of the Bush camp this entire time.

If the establishment sucks running his campaign had gone that route and and had him take a strong border stance from the beginning... instead of trying to re brand him now... he would have been president...if we believed him. He certainly would have been in the race and on people's minds.

But, it seems he was afraid to not look establishment while he was raising all the money he spent.

Jeb... you were a good governor and probably more deserving than your brother... but you made a ton off Florida... and then when you decided to run..

Your establishment camp was too stupid to understand what was going on. your team thought
Cantor was anomoly? and you believed them or were you all were too dense or too arrogant to care about the will of the taxpaying base? your campaign was incredibly tone deaf...

give up now... the base will never vote for you... most would even pick rubio over you... and that is surprising.

maybe you can run again in 8 years. of course if you listen to me... Romney will get in. He seems to have been pretty tone deaf too. Maybe you should stay and clear the way for Cruz or Trump.

  8. Jeb has the colossal might of the oil and defense industry behind him. You better believe the swiftboaters will be making an appearance in the new year to take down the grifters. If you haven't been paying attention, the attacks on Rubio have started with his use of the party's credit card.

yes... but he is the reverse cycle of trump now.
the more the machine is seen working for him.. the more diminished his chances become.

its going to take a genius to turn that around.

maybe get cruz to be his running mate now... and come out for an elimination of the IRS, and sealed borders, plus a sane immigration policy not tied to anchor babies and family ties but merit and talent.

  10. Alternative media has created a nation of cynics and skeptics...this is the real battle for a "packaged" Jeb; his entire schtick is so rehearsed and "pc" that it's completely transparent...

Let's assume that he did get Cruz on board and proposed those talking points...Who would believe him? His credibility is already shot and that family history is/was an enormous obstacle to overcome.
