  1. I already read a book once. It wasn't very good. Could you recommend one that I should read?

  2. I don't like Marxists. At least he was a "Black Marxist." It's the "White Marxists" that you have to watch out for.

You can read all about it. It's in books. You should read some sometime.

I'm not crazy about the idea of a monument to hugo chavez as suggested by zdreg, or was it another one of the usual nuts. Or even a monument, in the U.S. anyway, to Mandela, who was undoubtedly one of the great leaders of men (yes, and women too!)

But I think the idea of the Sioux agreeing not to carve giant images of Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Red Cloud, and Black Elk into the side of the Washington monument facing the U.S. Capital in exchange for the U.S. living up to its 1868 Treaty Commitment is a 'capital' idea!

Under the Treaty, the Black Hills, including Mount Rushmore and the heads of Washington, Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abe Lincoln belong to the Sioux Indian Nation.. The U.S, Supreme Court agreed in 1980 that the land was stolen from the Sioux in violation of the 1868 Treaty.

    From Wiki:
"Considering the Black Hills sacred and illegally taken, the Lakota (sioux) pursued a claim against the US government for the return of the land. In the 1980 United States v. Sioux Nation of Indians the United States Supreme Court upheld their position in that the land had been taken illegally, and the US government offered financial compensation. The Oglala Lakota are persisting in their demand to have the land returned to their nation; the account with their compensation is earning interest.'

The only just "compensation" is either to return the land, or let the indians carve likenesses of any four Sioux leaders of their choice into the side of the Washington Monument!

  5. History is often said to be useful because it teaches us from prior experience. Obviously, the Afrikaaners neglected studying it adequately. If they had, they would have know the only way to subdue a native population permanently is to kill most of them.

If you're not prepared or able to do that, save yourself the trouble and stay home.

Nelson Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day) is an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela, celebrated each 18 July (on Mandela's birthday).[1] The day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009,[2] with the first UN Mandela Day held on 18 July 2010. However, other groups began celebrating Mandela Day on 18 July 2009.

  8. Quote from PiggyBank:

my only dog in this hunt, is not having a national holiday for a foreign figure. Your previous post is all over the map, i did not say "abolish national holidays" or even that "mandela was a great man". All I said was we shouldn't have a national holiday for him in the US.

  9. trendlover, by "we" do u mean you and the voices that talk to you?

what didn't you understand about my reply to him? jesus is a religious figure who christians worship as god. religious worship transcends countries, many nations have religious holidays based on the majority religion. they don't have a national holiday for xmas in israel, but they have jewish holidays, for example. you are trying to compare the god of a major religion to a foreign revolutionary/politician, which is fucking stupid.

in whatever 3rd world shithole that spawned you, do they celebrate Washington's Birthday? no right.. are u laughing now dumbass?
