She is probably, avoiding the tough questions because all she will do is laugh her crazy laugh and it is very bad optics for her. Like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris has no clue on how to do her job.
The weird coverup going on with her is that the press- even the lefty press- is banging the daily mantra about "when are you going to the border" and she defends herself saying that her job is to study root causes in the northern triangle (hint: it's poverty, corruption, violence and those countries suck but America does not but I digress). But okay, suppose just for argument, we were to accept her claim that she is the Queen of Root Causes and does not do that dirty border shit, then the question I have and which the press should have is: HOW THE HELL IS THAT GOING IF THAT IS YOUR PRIMARY FOCUS? LAST I KNEW YOU DID A HIT AND RUN TRIP AND THEY TOLD YOU TO ENFORCE AMERICAN LAWS AND SEAL THE BORDER. So what does that work look like? Was that trip it when it comes addressing the root causes or what are the next steps or did your root cause analysis just consist of doing drive-through visits at some palaces with dictators or what? And is she proposing to fund solutions where the leaders of the country do not even remotely agree that that is what is needed the most. Or is this just a "shut up about America sealing its borders and be happy with the big check we are going to send you" type of venture. Be nice to see some reporting on these things. Right now she is failing to go to the border because she says her duties are elsewhere but she is failing at those duties too. Because I am giver, I am willing to let up on talking about the border and focus on the other piece. More reporting please. Is that asking too much? Oh, I see. NEVERMIND.
Looks like smooching with Biden did not get Macron any boost at the ballot box. His candle is burning shorter very fast. Macron's party loses big in France's regional elections https://news.yahoo.com/macrons-party-loses-big-frances-210529959.html
Obama weighs in or is rolled in from the mothball fleet to try to bring order to the dem chaos on the voting rights bill. As with the border issue, Joe has trouble making anything happen that can not be accomplished by handing out Trump vaccine and doing his Santa Claus routine. Photograph: Elijah Nouvelage/AFP/Getty Images Amanda Holpuch Sam Levin and agencies Mon 21 Jun 2021 18.49 EDT Barack Obama has backed conservative West Virginia Democratic senator Joe Manchin’s voting rights proposal, calling it a “product of compromise” as the landmark legislation struggles towards a crucial vote in the US Senate on Tuesday. The former US president weighed in, as did his wife and former first lady, Michelle Obama, decrying Republican efforts in many statehouses across the country to bring in new laws that restrict voting, and urging Congress to pass federal legislation “before it’s too late”. Barack Obama said the future of the country was at stake. “I have tried to make it a policy not to weigh in on the day-to-day scrum in Washington, but what is happening this week is more than just a particular bill coming up or not coming up to a vote,” he said in an interview with Yahoo News. He added: “I do want folks who may not be paying close attention to what’s happening ... to understand the stakes involved here, and why this debate is so vitally important to the future of our country,” Obama said. And the White House said on Monday it views the Senate’s work on an elections bill overhaul and changes being offered by Manchin as a “step forward”, even though the Democrats’ priority legislation is expected to be blocked by a Republican filibuster. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the revisions proposed by Manchin are a compromise, another step as Democrats work to shore up voting access and what Joe Biden sees as “a fight of his presidency”. “The president’s effort to continue that fight doesn’t stop tomorrow at all,” Psaki said. The Senate is preparing for a showdown Tuesday, a test vote of the For the People Act, a sweeping elections bill that would be the largest overhaul of US voting procedures in a generation. A top priority for Democrats seeking to ensure access to the polls and mail-in ballots made popular during the pandemic, it is opposed by Republicans as a federal overreach into state systems. Manchin has been a vocal Democratic Party holdout on Capitol Hill, opposing the For the People Act and insisting on gleaning bipartisan support for such legislation. But last week he introduced a list of compromises he would support, including 15 days of early voting and automatic voter registration. His compromise would also ban partisan gerrymandering and requiring voter ID. Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, said he opposed the compromise, and hopes are fading in many Democratic quarters that a vote on Tuesday in the Senate will take the legislation to the debate stage, thus leaving it stalled. In his latest interview, Obama said Democrats and Republicans have abused the redistricting process, but shared concerns about efforts in Republican-controlled states to limit access to voting. “Around the world we’ve seen once-vibrant democracies go in reverse,” Obama said. “It is happening in other places around the world and these impulses have crept into the United States … we are not immune from some of these efforts to weaken our democracy.” “If we have the same kinds of shenanigans that brought about January 6, you know – if we have that for a couple more election cycles we’re going to have real problems in terms of our democracy long term.” In a post on Instagram, Michelle Obama talked of the Biden legislation fighting voter suppression and strengthening democracy. “Over the past few months, there’s been a movement in state legislatures all across the country to pass laws that make it harder for people to cast a ballot. That means we’ve got to pass the For the People Act before it’s too late. This bill is one of our best chances…to ensure all of us have a say in our future – whether that’s issues like pandemic relief, criminal justice, immigration, healthcare, education, or anything else,” she wrote. Manchin had been the sole holdout. His proposed changes to the bill are being well received by some in his party, and any nod from the White House lends them credibility. He has suggested adding a national voter ID requirement, which has been popular among Republicans, and dropping other measures from the bill like its proposed public financing of campaigns. Among voting rights advocates, one key voice, Georgia-based Democrat and activist Stacey Abrams, has said she could support Manchin’s proposal. Ahead of Tuesday’s vote, it is clear Democrats in the split 50-50 Senate will be unable to open debate, blocked by a filibuster by Republicans. In the Senate, it takes 60 votes to overcome the filibuster, and without any Republican support, the Democrats cannot move forward. “Will the Republicans let us debate it?” said Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer as he opened the chamber on Monday afternoon. “We’re about to find out.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jun/21/barack-obama-joe-manchin-voting-rights-proposal
'F***ing Failure': Obama Ethics Chief Slams Biden for 'Illegally' Hiring Kids of Top Aides Walter Shaub, who served as the director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics under former President Barack Obama, tore into President Joe Biden on Friday over his administration's decision to hire the children of his top White House aides. Former U.S. ethics chief Walter Shaub shredded President Joe Biden for his administration's hiring of his top aides' children. On Friday, the Washington Post revealed that at least five children of Biden's top aides have joined his administration, including two sons and a daughter of the White House counselor, a deputy White House chief of staff's daughter, as well as the director of presidential personnel's daughter. Shaub quickly condemned Biden over the "illegal" hirings in a series of tweets. "I'm sorry, I know some folks don't like hearing any criticism of him. But this royally sucks. I'm disgusted. A lot of us worked hard to tee him up to restore ethics to government and believed the promises. This is a a real 'f*** you' to us—and government ethics," he wrote. "Pathetic! The responses from people who spent 4 years complaining the other side was putting party over country are pathetic. They sound just like MAGAs. The jobs went to privileged kiddos with mommies & daddies who cozied up to POTUS. Nepotism is illegal." "This is ridiculous. What a f***ing failure," Shaub continued, adding that such a "little problem so damn easy to avoid" signals that there's a "much bigger rot" within the Biden administration. Under federal law, government officials are generally not allowed to hire or have a hand in hiring close relatives. In a statement, deputy White House press secretary Andrew Bates maintained that the hires were all qualified for their roles. "The president has instituted the highest ethical standards of anyone to ever hold this office," he said. "And he's proud to have staffed the most diverse administration in American history with well-qualified public servants who reflect his values." "The White House's defense that they had the minimum qualifications is total BS," Shaub wrote. "The issue isn't whether they were qualified (some weren't). It's that a WH that promised diversity is giving these privileged white kids with connected mommies and daddies prime jobs over others!" Shaub served as the ethics chief from 2013 to 2017 under Obama and former President Donald Trump. Trump hired his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to work as unpaid advisers in his administration. So far, Biden has upheld his promise not to hire members of his family. However, as the Post reported, he has hired the sister of White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki and the wife of White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain. Shaub called himself a "stupid moron who fell for [Biden's] false promises." "I wasn't naive enough to think he'd be a transformative president. He told us he'd be plain vanilla. But I thought there was momentum behind his ethics promises. Boy was I stupid," he wrote. While the former ethics chief said Biden was still "better than Trump," he argued that "a straight up crook" should not be the "standard for ethics." "Authoritarianism & corruption go hand in hand. If we don't clean up govt, we're setting the table for the next authoritarian," he said. "Speaking of which, Biden's administration is fighting tooth & nail to stop Congressional oversight—not just of this admin but of the Trump admin too!" Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment. This story will be updated with any response. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...iring-kids-of-top-aides/ar-AALdXyV?li=BBorjTa
Show me the richest counties in America and I will show you where democrats are in power. Show me the poorest counties in America and I will show where republicans are in power. A lot of this right wing hatred in cities is based on racism. If you guys cared at all about the well-being of Americans there is no way you would be republicans. Show me where Americans are the sickest and I will show you a Republican in power. Show me where Americans have the lowest life expectancy and I will show you a Republican in power. I could go on and on. The only place where republicans thrive is when they are in a blue or purple state. The red states are all beat up shit holes.
