To be honest I can't blame Joe all that much for this ongoing fuck story in Afganistan. We had to pull out sometime, and whenever that happened the whole place goes straight to hell, and right quick. That place isn't going to change in 20 years or 220 years. There are still families fighting grudge matches from 5 centuries ago. They kill each other for sport and recreation. Lost cause, always was, always will be. Leave and let it burn. They form some bullshit terrorist group and launch another 9/11 type attack...nuke the entire fucked up shithole and be done with it. Agreed, this democratic ideology/nation building goal was always untenable. We should have understood that and been out long long ago. However this “shit show” for lack of a better name, was totally avoidable. Our swift “unannounced” midnight exodus, without a coordinated response by the Afgan’s left a vacuum which the Taliban has ruthlessly exploited. Yes, we said we were getting out, but the manner in which we pulled out has led to the chaos we are watching today. As I type, our embassy has fallen.
