  1. White House flag back at full staff less than 48 hours after John McCain’s death

The White House broke protocol Monday morning by returning the American flag to full staff before the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was buried.

The flag was flown at half-staff to mark the passing Saturday of the 81-year-old McCain after a battle with brain cancer, but was flying high the following day.

President Donald Trump frequently attacked and insulted McCain, one of his sharpest Republican critics, and reportedly objected to issuing a White House statement praising the senator’s life.

Flags are typically flown at half-staff on a president’s executive order until the day of internment, which is scheduled for Sunday at the Naval Academy.

McCain will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol and Arizona State Capitol, and memorial services will be held in Phoenix and Washington.

  2. This is disappointing. It would not show any special treatment to have the flag at half staff until John McCain is laid to rest. It's common and accepted practice for all, regardless of party.
I see no political advantage in doing this, and even if there was it would be a mistake to show such disrespect. Small, petty, and decidedly not presidential. Pure chicken shit.
They say the final straw is typically something people don't see coming. This may be it.

Yet again our dear leader cannot put the country before himself.

McCain was a good guy and this president can’t even put out a respectable statement or keep the flags at half mast until internment.

    What a petty asshole.

That's what the U.S. Flag Code calls for, you utter moron.

    4 U.S. Code § 7 - Position and manner of display

"The flag shall be flown at half-staff... on the day of death and the following day for a Member of Congress"

Good guy? Is that all you can say about St. John McCain? You are required to be much more fawning of his legacy. You have only said a few good things about McCain since he died. You are supposed to say much more. You have failed to show proper support. You have let a lot of people down. I recommend you post many many more eulogies in favor of McCain to make up for your lack-luster performance.

McCain was alright. He came through to protect the ACA at the end so I respect him for that. Can’t deny he his military service and commitment. A little goofy but not a bad guy.

  9. “When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I'm basically the same. The temperament is not that different.”
    Donald J. Trump

Must he prove this every single day? His presidency has become to much of a pyrrhic victory for me. I don't know who in the hell I'll be supporting in 2020, but it won't be Donald Trump.
Rest easy John McCain. Semper Fi.
    I'm done with this subject.
