All these smart asses in the thread will be proven wrong. Seems like they just love listening to themselves talk.
They just added thousands of untested cases to the death count the past week or so. All assumed cases are included. Doctors have said they have a classification problem. Death numbers are not reliable at all. New hospitalization numbers are the only reliable metric.

  2. So to what do you attribute the recent overwhelming of hospitals and morgues?

  3. Still is well over 12,000 in a year and we are only 3 months in.

All i see is conejecture and questioning of death counts but they are still way higher than H1N1....and H1N1 is from a year of data, we are 3 months.

again Covid 19 is not the same as H1N1 or why are we acting differently this time.. they are not the same in how many people are dying from it.

Oh look, sensationalist headlines. Gimme a break. All you have to look at is the projected hospitalizations vs actual. Projections had to be readjusted 3 times because they were so off. If you want headlines, I can post headlines of thousands of nurses being furloughed and hospitals on the verge of closing. Instead, just look at the projections from IMHE. Hell, even Cuomo said they have been dead wrong.

I know, but if the majority of US deaths are in a few hot spots, and those hospitals inside those hot spots are incented (receiving federal money) for patients treated for or dying from Covid, then it isn't hard to see how examples of statistical "anomalies" suddenly become epidemic.

Yeah... how do you explain in hot spots like New York City there are so many bodies that the undertakers can't even keep up with them or find storage space. Can you tell me what is killing all these people over the past 5 weeks if it is not COVID-19. Perhaps you believe the hospital staff is murdering them so they can get more federal funding.

BTW... that is not the way federal COVID-19 federal funding works. There is no incentive to declare patients as COVID-19 to get more federal funding. The additional federal funding was set on the basis of how much medicare/medicaid money they receive as a basis point.

I think there are deaths from things like Cancer, Diabetes, and a whole host of other illnesses that kill people every day of the week. The reason the bodies are "piling up" is because people aren't being able to get their dead (suspension because of contagion and funerals are suspended, etc). So everyone is pretty much being kept on ice.

Kindly explain this, and I'll be happy to correct myself if this isn't so.

    "
Under the legislation (of the CARES Act), hospitals can receive 15 percent additional funding from Medicare if they report patients who aren’t initially admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 but then while admitted either test positive initially or as ‘secondary diagnosis.’

The bill states: “For discharges occurring during the emergency period described in section 1135(g)(1)(B), in the case of a discharge that has a principal or secondary diagnosis of COVID–19, the Secretary shall increase the weighting factor for each diagnosis-related group (with such a principal or secondary diagnosis) by 15 percent.”

UNDER THE CARES ACT, HOSPITALS GET PAID 15% MORE BY MEDICARE IF THEY CLASSIFY THEIR PATIENTS AS HAVING “A PRINCIPAL OR SECONDARY DIAGNOSIS OF COVID-19.” GET READY FOR EVERY HOSPITAL IN AMERICA TO PASS OFF EVERYDAY COUGHING AS “SUSPECTED COVID-19.” HTTPS://T.CO/JXTVUMGRIV #COVID19

The death rate by week for COVID-19 is high than any other cause of death in the U.S. -- even higher than heart disease.

Considering the fairly rigorous criteria must use to demonstrate the individual had COVID-19; it is ridiculous to assert that hospitals are faking the numbers to get more money from the feds. This is merely an absurd conspiracy theory.

Tell me again how do you explain the number of bodies piling up in NYC in the past month at a much higher rate then the normal number of bodies in a week? What is killing all of these people? Are they dropping dead from some other maladity?

The bodies are not piling up because they cannot be retrieved (they are still being claimed & buried); they are piling up due to the largest death rate at 513 deaths per million people ever seen in NY.
