No, do your own research, that former employee now has private insurance, it goes on for as long as they pay for it. No expiration date. Which is a subject other than what loyek posted. Going out and getting a policy "like other self-employed people" is considerably more expensive than working for someone who provides health insurance. And one doesn't just "go on" Medicaid. The fact remains that if one loses his job, he has no insurance unless he buys a personal policy, which is where the ACA comes in. If he can find a policy on his own that is cheaper, the ACA is not a requirement.
If he pays the full cost. As I said above, that's where the ACA comes in. If he can find private insurance that is less, no one is forcing him to use the ACA.

You're mixing up the world before the ACA, the world with the ACA, and the world if the ACA is repealed. Perhaps if you could stop ranting long enough for the red mist in front of your eyes to dissipate, you might be able to find answers instead of FoxNews dogma.

I'm not trying to save anybody. I'm merely pointing out that before the ACA one could lose one's insurance over a pre-existing condition or due to an expensive illness. The ACA made those actions illegal.
