  1. Armadillos, pythons, gators, iguanas, hurricanes…

Hurricanes are truly the only real threat. I'm not an anxious person by nature but I would be lying if I said that I didn't have any concern as we enter the next few months. Sometimes I wish I still had my condo in Montreal as a backup plan.

  3. Yes, I watched Ian tear up my community in Fort Myers Beach on tv from the comfort and safety of my Wisconsin home.

    It was surreal.

The water was up to the gutters on my house.

So what ended up happening to the Ft. Myers house? Is it all fixed and livable now? Or is the process still ongoing?

That's what I figured. I'm sorry you're going through that, but at least you weren't in the house during the hurricane.

  7. You've got that right.

Have no pity for me, I still have a home here.
Some friends and neighbors down there lost...

    Everything.

It's a nightmare down there...rotten contractors, the permit process...

I reevaluate what to do daily.

    Should I rebuild,
Should I buy something more inland,
    Should I walk away.

I'm on a canal, dock and a lift...
Walk out my back door, get on the boat and..
My biggest decision was what restaurant to go to for lunch...
The Gulf of Mexico was minutes away.

    Oh well, some lost everything,
    I'm very lucky.

    This was my sitch. IMG_0425.JPG

Wow. Yeah, you really had it rough down there prior to Ian. :D

I'm curious. What was that house worth before the storm, and what would it be worth now if somebody wanted to buy it?

  9. Before Ian, a little over 400k.
    Now?
    Around 2.

Sweet old situation. Unless one is a climate change denier, severe weather more likely.
What's the insurance like in such a vulnerable area?

May you be inspired to make the best choices for your future self.
