  1. Great idea. But does anyone think that they would tell the truth? They'd manipulate all the statistics.

Bush's deficit spending (ALL 8 YEARS) < Obama's deficit spending (ONE FREAKING YEAR)

Deficit spending under ALL previous administrations < Projected Obama spending in his first 5 years in office

Sure but you could create an independent body to audit the results. Also, they already try all the tricks in the book to lie about the numbers anyway.

  4. Check treasurydirect. gov for the official deficits. Bush ran a >1T deficit his last year and passed that same bloated budget off to Obama for 2009. Obama reports the real deficit not just the "cash only" deficit the repubs report to make it look smaller.

  5. If we're ever going to reign in spending, it will have to be with a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. (Presuming, of course, that the Obama administration doesn't REPEAL the Constitution...)

We had a law which mandated a balanced budget in '87. But as obeying it "wasn't fun", Congress just chucked it into the trash.

education? paying teachers more than doesn't make them better teachers. chemistry teachers etc. are already making more than chemists in the private sector.

no matter what u think about the military mission in Iraq and Afghanistan american troops do not shoot indiscriminately at civilians. your remark is untrue and shows that you need to increase your knowledge of world politics.

I believe you're right, but the point is that is absurd to blame this all on Bush/Republicans.

Remember who controlled the congress in Bush's last year of office as well.

The answer? Abolish the income tax, abolish the fed, implement a 15% consumption tax, cut Government spending by 70%, peg the dollar to metals, erect a 50% import tariff against developed countries, then let the economy crash and right itself.

Will never happen. Hence, our impending destruction.

bush and the republicans are to blame. Bush let paulson take control of the bailout with his socialist measures. the republicans nominated a clueless old man for their presidential nominee. Obama more so than hilliary clinton saw the handwriting on the wall. now the US has a president who says he believes in free enterprise while trying to nationalize the financial system.

"NEW ORLEANS – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is calling Barack Obama "the most radical president in American history."

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100409/ap_on_re_us/us_republicans_gingrich_1/print

Gingrich is a potential presidential candidate in 2012 who says his fellow Republicans must work together to stop what he calls Obama's "secular, socialist machine."

this is the price the US is paying for a failed republican leadership inc. bush.
