"I want an answer!!!" Damn, I hope this film isn't based on the life of @ammo, who's been a die-hard permabear since 2009 market bottom.
I don't think of this movie, Money Monster, as a 'wall street' movie, per se -- but rather a suspense thriller with a stock subplot to it. (I'm not that eager to see it.) In this regard, you can also say The Taking of Pelham 123 [2009] is also a wall street movie...since it briefly covers options. John Travolta's character terrorizes the subway to scare the market into a panic...and he then profits greatly through the prior purchase of put options. ...you can say this plot is kind of similar to the banks who caused the housing crisis/market collapse. or the terrorists who caused 9-11; causing an event...so you can profit greatly.
For the 100th time, they don't make movies about candlesticks for you to jerk to. Almost all movies about Wall Street simply use Wall Street as a backdrop. Because 99% of the public is not interested in dbphoenix and his trend lines.
Can you imagine a movie about trader who's trying to trade with candlesticks and TA and then a whole bunch of people telling him and can't be done and TA is bullshit. I'd pay 10 bucks to go see it.
The best movie I saw about Wall Street as Wall Street was Margin Call. It got a lot of the culture right (at least from my experience).
Not really, The Big Short is quite recent and focuses almost entirely on trading, it's a great watch as well. This "Money Monster" looks like another action crapfest.
Wonder if this is foreshawdowing what will actually happen to a cramer or another market prognosticator --during the next crash?? It's not entertaining at all for those in the biz and my bet is it will flop. surf
