No I did not. You stated 3 times in this thread that MSTY held up fine, and the facts say otherwise. Neither the value of MSTY or the dividend held while MSTR was tanking. You are simply wrong. Deal with it.
Your fond reminiscences are not an argument itself. They are just labels. Just like calling bitcoin money is a label, not necessary a fact. Anyhow, I give it 2.5 years before it collapses. It isn't gonna make it to year 4.
I just posted you the actual numbers of how MSTY outperformed both Bitcoin and mstr substantially LOL.. you're just butt hurt. Here even if we use your worst case scenario: Start date 21-Nov-2024 Price 46 Investment $100,000.00 Shares 2,174 Unrealized gains/loss -$50,239.13 Dividends received $27,107.39 NAV $76,868.26 Monthly income $4,517.90 MSTY -23k Bitcoin -8k MSTR -27k With lost dividends included: Bitcoin -35k MSTR -54k So MSTY performed better relative to holding bitcoin or MSTR if you entered with 100k back on NOV21...why are you being so obtuse???
The video producer is not bashing Sailor and Microstrategy, he simply outlines the history of MicroStrategy starting at the 1:34 mark. The video states that MicroStrategy was founded Michael Sailor, who has become a bit of an icon, in 1989 -- when he was only 24 years old. It went public in 1998, a darling of the tech bubble that had a rough path thereafter like many tech companies but did ultimately did survive. Lessor known, Sailor and two other executives at MicroStrategy were sued by the SEC in 2000 for materially overstating their revenue and earnings. Fast forward to 2020, MicroStrategy was basically a barely profitable, barely growing software business. Then they started buying massive quantities of bitcoin and everything changed. This is hardly "Sailor and Microstrategy bashing", the video is simply providing the background. It then goes on at the 2:12 mark to state, "So before we go any further, I am not saying Bitcoin is a bad investment. I am not saying Strategy is a bad investment. I am saying MSTY is likely to be a bad investment even if Bitcoin and Strategy are good investments". "To understand why let's dive a little deeper into how the ETF actually works..."
Of course Mr Curvefit chooses the all time high to make his numnut case.. You just figured out that selling high vol puts is a better trade than going long the underlying in a massive correction??? let’s play the same game from the April lows…
As far as I know, MicroStrategy is a perfectly profitable business overshadowed by Sailor's investment in BTC
I don't think this guy understands the concept of income generating. Nobody cares about NAV. All that matters is you keep getting the dividend. That's the deal. That's how high-yield ETFs are structured... unburdened by CAGR or capital preservation. I'm quite prepared to lose 100K over time while collecting 500k and dividends.... So far I'm up 19k and collected 60-80k in dividends? Something like that. ...so I have a lot of room to give back nav Retirement requires income, not capital.
There are many ways they can support a div: Synthetic BS works as advertised and it is truly beta to MSTR. Synthetic is weak as structured and outperforms when MSTR is flat or falls. They poach NAV. As structured it is essentially a call fly with the long synthetic as the ITM call leg of the fly.
As I outlined the video’s author is not bashing Sailor, Microstrategy or Bitcoin. Your contention that the first two minutes of the video are focused on bashing Sailor and Micrstrategy is not factually correct. I would urge you to watch the entire video to understand why MSTY is a bad investment.
