This one was better. Richard Dreyfuss was FANTASTIC!! Can't believe he didn't get an Emmy for it. He was a dead ringer for Bernie Madoff too. But seriously, leave the bastard alone!! Enough about making movies/shows about him! He's made enough people miserable he REALLY doesn't need to be shown again and again and again on the big screen to remind all those people who's lost their fortune and even their loved ones of their pain every time they see him. Let him rot in jail already!!
It looks interesting, but I always have mixed feelings about movies like this. People like him deserve to be forgotten.
'People like him deserve to be forgotten.' What an odd thing to say..... People should remember him, maybe that way they will avoid the next scam artist.
It's interesting to speculate on what sort of sentence Madoff would havereceived here in Europe, I reckon maybe not even prison time. They give murderers less than fifteen years, rapists less than that, and yet they lock him up for life, seems excessive given that he didn't actually hurt anyone, much less kill them.
All scam artists are different and their scamming technique and strategy are all unique. Just because people gets constantly reminded about Madoff doesn't make them immune from future scams. How to inoculate people against scams is ALWAYS remembering 1)If something is just too good to be true, it REALLY is too good to be true no matter how many people are in it. 2) Don't give a shit about what people will think about what you did. If you smell something fishy, don't stay in just because you are afraid of upsetting people. If they TRULY cared about you, they wouldn't be upset at all. If they get upset just because you walked away, then you don't want to be around them anyway.
Wonder if the victims have recovered their losses yet? They were well on their way. Most scam victims never recover a penny.
