You are incorrect about this. At the time Obamacare was passed, the Democrats had a majority in both the Senate and the House. They could have easily passed a full public plan, but instead pushed ahead with Obamacare - a plan put together by lobbyists for the insurance and healthcare industry. Obama solely focused on pushing Obamacare. He never pushed a public plan. The Democrats could have easily passed a public plan if they wanted to while they held a majority. Obamacare is simply nothing more than a giveaway to the healthcare and insurance industry. It backfired on the insurance industry when Congress eliminated "risk corridors" (which covered any losses incurred by insurance companies) in 2014 when the payments ballooned to $25 Billion -- far above the max estimated amount of $1 Billion. I covered this in detail in previous posts, complete with documentation and timelines.
Last summer I sat in the waiting room of a hospital with a ruptured appendix. I should have been treated immediately or at least as soon as they could read the mri. The nurses were very apologetic because they knew I was probably in serious pain with a life threatening situation... and pissed they could not treat me because their rooms were filled all sorts of people who really did not need emergency rooms. It was giant mess. Once I got a room and they did the pre op stuff, I was in surgery in about 45 minutes. Obamacare tried to kill me and it doubled my rates. My doctors and nurses were great. But, they were already part of my plan before my rates got jacked. And I bet they are still there after repeal and replace.
Join the Presidents Council @ Scripps that way you won't be treated like a schmuck..Money talks bullsit walks!
I was treated to perhaps best post op room in the hospital after surgery. I had plenty of pull at that hospital because my wife works there and I am friends with some of the docs there. so good work with your fantasy put down.
I'm happy everything worked out for you after Obamacare tried to kill you, it must have been quite a traumatic experience..Best of luck in 2017.
They did not have enough votes. There were democrat holdouts that would have prevented the public option from passing. I can't write further because I am on ATT and it is impossible to respond right now. I will respond later. Your opinion is one I respect. ( I will soon change my ISP.)
Sure. And you know this because....... Here's an article that says two of the 'holdouts that needed to be persuaded' were holding out because the final bill wasn't going to be the house bill, which included a public option. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/w...vote-dems-get-tough-on-holdouts/article/15883 There was never any doubt this monstrosity was going to pass. They were just negotiating for more socialism in it, not less. The only real holdouts that needed to be persuaded to go along with this thing were the health care companies.
I'll try again. I have to type very slowly. You can confirm this easily. The public option was in the original bill introduced in the house and I think passed by the House, but even then the democrats did not vote as a block. 39 voted against it. But the Senate had its own version of the Bill put together by Baucus. It did not have the the P.O. in it. In the meantime Kennedy's seat went to a Republican. The P.O. could not get through the Senate and the two houses went to reconciliation to get something passed that could not contain the P.O. It is really Baucus, a democrat that is responsible for blocking the P.O. It is not correct to blame either Pelosi or Obama for failure to pass the P.O.. They tried mightily, but they recognized the only way the Bill with the P.O. in it would ever get through the Senate was of over Max Baucus' dead body. These statements are incorrect: The Democrats could have easily passed a full public plan. And: [Obama] never pushed a public plan. He was on record from very early on favoring the "Public Option". I assume that is what you mean by Public plan.
For those who actually want to read the facts here is the detailed history of the public option during the passage of Obamacare. The Origins And Demise Of The Public Option http://content.healthaffairs.org/content/29/6/1117.full The actual facts demonstrate how the Obama administration caved into corporate lobbyists and torpedoed the public option desired by many Democrats in Congress (at a time they held the majority and could pass whatever they wanted).
