The Washed Out Post's latest scribbling:

"On Iraq, let's ignore those who got it all wrong"

Oh, ok. Here's what joe Biden said:

"Iraq one of Obama's greatest Achievements"

Is that what the Washed Out Post is talking about?

  3. As the debate heats up over the unfolding crisis in Iraq, one German newspaper took a decidedly pointed approach to things in its Friday front page.

Die Tageszeitung ran the famous "Mission Accomplished" picture of George W. Bush, but replaced Bush with Shaker Wahib, head of ISIS, the militant group currently running roughshod through Iraq. The message: this is what Bush wrought.

  5. Not to worry. The building is engulfed in flames and Obama is just now getting estimates on fire suppression systems.
I know that you, and frankly most people on the left and right want there to be a diplomatic solution to this. There isn't. There is all out war taking on this terrorist threat head on. That involves all the ugliness of a REAL war. No more building schools and indoor plumbing. No more concern for collateral damage. Just killing, killing, and more killing until the need for it is gone. Door number two is doing what we've been doing and accepting the consequences, which is an ever growing situation of worldwide violence and chaos. There is no door number three, no matter how bad you or anyone else wants a door number three, there just isn't.

  6. Most likely scenario is split into 3.

Iran will take over baghdad and Southern Iraq.

Kurds declare the independence of Kurdistan.

And ISIS becomes the govt in Northern Iraq, exporting terrorism and giving sanctuary to all those who wage war against American and Israel.

I think you may be in panic mode over this, I have no idea why you think I believe in a diplomatic solution to crazy. (Yes, I have argued in the past that not all Muslims are crazy; one billion is a very large number; the fact that Muslims are fighting ISIS, and asking for Iranian and our help, proves it.) A coalition of forces is forming to beat these religious nuts down. Based on what I've been reading this morning about their military capabilities, it's very doable.

  8. I don't think a diplomatic solution is crazy at all. Diplomacy is always preferable to war. What I'm saying is that there is no hope for a diplomatic solution in this case. Just who it that we'll be negotiating with? Just who is in charge over there? Who has the final word? Do they have any interest in a just peace for all? Are the people we're negotiating with rational at all?
Please don't name some government official. They have no government.

My bad, when I said "crazy", I was referring to the ISIS group. There is no diplomatic solution ('til they get the beat down) to their crazy.

  10. Obama negotiated the agreement with the iraqi's that resulted in all of our troops eaving. Let's not forget however, that the Iraqi's wanted us out. Ultimately, they wanted conditions on our troops that made it impossible for us to leave them there.

It certainly wasn't any kind of accomplishment for obama to crow over, but I didn't see begging Iraq to let us leave a bunch of troops over there in constant danger. The Iraqi's misjudged the extent fo the threat and their ability to deal with it. Now they pay the price.

When I say "Iraqi's", I really mean the Shia group that controls the government. This ISIS invasion is purely a shia-sunni battle for control. Either one of them would turn on us in a heartbeat.
