and fraudcurrents... the burden is on you to show that man made co2 is causing warming.
there is no science showing it.

for all we know it may be causing us to cool by increasing cloud cover.
with the oceans warming as much as they did... perhaps our land temps should be warmer.

December Thaw Winding Down: Near-Normal Temperatures Returning After Record-Breaking Warm Spell

Globe Headed For Warmest Year Ever
Earth is headed for the warmest year ever, despite the winter blast that America has received. Matt Sampson has the details. (Video at link)

More than 2,400 record highs were broken in the first half of December as a spell of unusually balmy weather overtook a large part of the United States. That warm spell is fading away, however, as much of the country returns to more typical mid-December temperatures.

This December thaw kicked into high gear last week as Seattle turned warmer than Orlando and set its all-time December record high Wednesday. Dozens of locations broke records for the month of December -- but in an ironic twist, parts of Florida were under frost advisories for five consecutive days while the rest of the country enjoyed a reprieve from November's arctic chill.

A jet stream pattern that encouraged cold air masses from near the Arctic Circle to rush southward into the U.S. for much of November changed early this month, allowing much milder air from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico to become the dominant influences on temperatures.

This allowed unseasonably warm weather to take over a large part of the western and central U.S., not to mention a large swath of western and central Canada.

More Than 2,400 Record Highs Set
While the milder pattern began setting up shop two weeks ago, last week became warm enough to start re-writing the record books. Seattle recorded its warmest high temperature on record for the month of December on Wednesday, Dec. 10, with a high of 66 degrees -- beating the highs in Orlando (64) and even Key West, Florida (65).

That was one of more than 2,400 daily record highs set so far this month nationwide. Among those, there have been nearly 200 monthly record highs.

Several other Washington cities also set all-time December records. Bellingham hit 67 on Dec. 10 to crush its previous December record of 63 -- which had just been tied the day before. Walla Walla had its first 70-degree day on record in the month of December, hitting 71 on Dec. 10. The previous records in both cities had been set Dec. 26, 1980.

Rapid City, South Dakota reached 71 on both Thursday and Friday, marking its first back-to-back readings above 70 on record in the month of December. In North Dakota, Dickinson recorded back to back highs in the 60s Friday and Saturday; the only other time that's ever happened there in December was in 1979.

Livingston, Montana climbed to 64 on Friday which is also a new record high temperature for the entire month of December.

The warmth nudged east Saturday, toppling dozens of records from the central and northern Plains to parts of the Upper Midwest.

Grand Island, Nebraska, broke its all-time record warm low for the month of December Saturday when the mercury failed to drop below 47 degrees. The previous record of 46 had stood since Dec. 3-4, 1913, having been tied once in 1998. Norfolk, Nebraska, also set an all-time record warm low for the month of December Saturday, toppling a 52-year-old record.

More records fell in Nebraska Sunday, when Lincoln broke its all-time record for warmest daily low temperature in the month of December. The low in Nebraska's capital was a balmy 53. An hour's drive away, Omaha had a low of 52 Sunday to tie its warmest December low -- a record that had stood untouched for 137 years.

Meanwhile, despite all the warm weather in the northern U.S., frost advisories were posted over a number of northern Florida counties for the morning hours Dec. 11 through Dec. 15. Tallahassee recorded its fifth consecutive morning of sub-freezing temperatures on Dec. 15; in the same five days (Dec. 11-15) International Falls, Minnesota -- the "Icebox of the Nation" -- only dropped below freezing on three days.

The warmth allowed many areas of remaining snowpack to melt. Snow cover bottomed out at just 17.5 percent of the contiguous U.S. on Dec. 12 -- the smallest snow cover for this time of year in at least 25 years, according to NOAA. It was a dramatic turnaround from mid-November, when 50.4 percent of the country was blanketed in white -- the largest snow cover on record during November since records began in 1966.

In areas where snow cover melted completely, temperatures surged even higher, as snow cover has a refrigerating effect. Snowpack prevents sunlight from warming the ground underneath and reflects more sunlight directly back to outer space, making it more difficult to get the air near the ground to warm up. Without the snowpack, air temperatures near the ground can climb much higher than they would with snow on the ground, all other circumstances (e.g. cloud cover, upper-air temperatures, wind direction) being equal.
