These people who you want to throw out of the US won democratically the last elections. They were the majority. So the majority of Americans should be thrown out of the US? That is very strange because your opinion is representing in the US a MINORITY. You act just like the truck driver: minorities want to decide what is right or wrong. You only accept your point of view. You don't respect other people. In history from all elections more or less half were won by the democrats and half were won by the republicans. That shows what America is. But you just like what your point of view is, you don't accept the American reality. It has nothing to do with hating Americans. Simple people think always black or white; intelligent people know there are a lot of grey shades between black and white. You will never be happy anywhere, because it is impossible to find a place where everything goes like YOU wish. And it is clear that you are not happy at all in the US. You now showed that very clear.
You are thinking logically. In the US there were vastly more drug overdose deaths (think China-produced, Mexican cartel supplied Fentanyl) than Covid deaths among the young and healthy. Yet, US government is supplying crack pipes* while banning Ivermectin. *Many leftist organizations tried to debunk the "crack pipe" claim, but even the NYT admits "Safe smoking kits are listed as just one of the allowable purchases." and "The grant guidelines do not specify what the smoking kits should include. According to Harm Reduction International, a London-based nongovernmental organization, such kits can contain rubber mouthpieces, brass screens, lip balm, disinfectant wipes and glass stems — the “crack pipes” in question. The contents can vary based on the organization distributing the kit as well as state and local laws on the distribution of drug paraphernalia." https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/10/us/politics/biden-crack-pipes-claim.html
The BLM violence was an extremely small part of the overall protests and Democrats and protest organizers did condemn the violence. Otherwise, you might recall that violent protesters were arrested and protest camps like the CHOP on Seattle Capital Hill were forceably removed after a couple of weeks like what is happening now in Canada. So both left wing and right wing extremist elements are treated the same.
Bugy's perspective is nutty and extremist and does not represent the main street reality in America or the perspective of most average Americans. My extended family who were all once Eisenhower style Republicans have over the years become Democratic Party members as Democrats are currently the moderate party who try to balance the needs of business and the working class through the proper mix of capitalism, regulation, and social welfare.
It's a stupid law, enacted by a stupid government who was elected by the majority of the stupid people. As I am smarter than most I'm exempt. (After all I have read the internet; well the stuff I agree with.) That seems to stand up in court. Are there any consequences at all to civil disobedience? If there are you never hear about it in the media.
Your comment is a basic media literacy fail. I live in the Seattle area so I saw the actual ratio of unlawful to peaceful protesters. 10s of thousands of peaceful marchers and perhaps a 100 or so violent protester maximum. But on TV things are framed to sensationalize. For instance, you might remember the 1999 Seattle WTO protests. At that time I lived downtown and was surrounded by the protests. There were a couple of thousand direct activists who expected to block roads and be arrested by police. There were 10s of thousands of union and regular citizen marchers as well. About a dozen "black block" anarchists (or whatever they were called) broke a Starbuck's coffee window and the United States media played that footage so many times that my mother called me fearful that the whole of downtown Seattle was being destroyed. During the BLM protests, The Capital Hill Occupied Protest zone (CHOP) was a stupid thing in many ways but it was largely peaceful (relative to the fact that the Capital Hill neighborhood is normally not the safest area at night). The media made a big deal of the couple of murders in the zone at the time, but they did not mention the fact that the murder rate was higher in surrounding area during that same time. This is the power of media and you fell for it.
Media need spectacular news as that is good for business. It increases the number of viewers/readers. It is all about making money. Ethical deontological behavior is already gone a long time and replaced by manipulation for political or financial reasons. Many years ago when I still lived in Belgium, my native country, I received one day a lot of phone calls from friens who lived abroad. They all asked if there was a war going on in Belgium. I did not understand what they were speaking about till one of them send me an article with a picture of a man with a gun. Belgium has a french speaking part and a dutch speaking part. They don't get along very well, but most fighting happened in discussion between politicians. Apparently there was a conflict between two politicians and one of them had a gun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Long_Rifle) in his hands. That picture was send around the world insinuating big problems in Belgium. What was for the rest of the world a war, was an almost non event in Belgium. The man never shot with that gun. That shows how media works.
I wouldn't call over $2B worth of property damage and several deaths "an extremely small part of the overall protests". You sound like that CNN reporter standing in front of the burning riot on TV and declaring, "mostly peaceful". And that's not counting the looting that is still happening today which resulted from the Defund the Police movement directly attributed to BLM. Back then you also had people charged with serious crimes (assaulting police officers and trying to permanently blind them with lasers, attempting to burn down federal buildings and police buildings with people still inside, you know..."insurrection" type stuff) get their charges dropped by corrupt DAs like Portland's Mike Schmidt who announced ahead of time that rioting would not be prosecuted. You think I'm joking... Those crimes include: Interfering with a peace officer or parole and probation officer Second-degree disorderly conduct First and second-degree criminal trespass Third-degree escape Harassment Riot - Unless accompanied by a charge outside of this list. (https://www.kptv.com/news/multnomah...cle_0289b146-dbff-11ea-aee8-5f1693753950.html) Have we seen any Canadian judge pre-announce that he/she will not charge truckers for illegally parking? Even in that article above, notice how they called it "protest". Sorry, but I don't consider rioting part of protest and those Canadian truckers would agree with that. I didn't ask what Dem politicians condemned the violence. I assume that most would if asked as even if they agreed with the violence (some actually did), most would not admit to that due to the political appearance. I asked what Dem politicians condemned the illegal occupation in Seattle and rioting that went on night after night for over 100 days summer 2020. Even the Portland Mayor sided with the "protestors" and joined them one night because he thought it would be in his political best interest in regards to reelection (he was running against someone even more radical) to do so. It wasn't until they started literally shooting fireworks at his home, sometime after being pressured by his neighbors and agreeing to move that he condemned only the violent part of it, but never went beyond that. No, most Dem politicians could not fully condemn, the rioting, looting, property destruction, etc, because a large part of their base was out doing that stuff. That said, I don't think the truckers have a right to block public roads. It is illegal and they should face the consequences. But if we use the BLM "protests" as a template for consequences, that means that their trucks get towed, maybe they spend a night in jail, then they get charged and then their charges get dropped after a day and nothing goes on their record. That's what would happen if justice was applied equally. What they should do is simply not show up to work. Problem solved after a few days.
