tldr... but it's interesting that this is the first time we've heard of this. (I'm assuming it wasn't out there before if you're just posting it now--- that's a veiled compliment btw, no need to activate the shields.) On a funny side-note... I was wondering who this week would be the first to break the "guilty" verdicts down here. I bet it was Here-4-Corpses (aka Cuddlybear)... but A) he's like one of the few I have on super-ignore and B) I didn't care enough to look. I bet you came close though GWB.
This whole case will be thrown out on appeal. The appeal court will also ask to censor Merchant and Bragg
Trump's appeal process will take years and the Supreme Court will not touch those 34x felony convictions. Simply, Trump is guaranteed to be a convicted felon for several years...inspiring many current felons in prison that they too can be President of the United States. Yet, they (people in prison with felonies) will be much more careful than Trump in 2016 to use Hush Money to bury negative stories and then falsify business record to conceal the Hush Money payments in an election year because they now know Trump was an illegitimate President in 2016...confirmed by his 34x felony convictions. Stormy Daniels is very lucky, she could have been a target of a hired murderer. wrbtrader
It's OK with us as well. Sadly, he will likely get probation as best. Trump says he’s ‘OK’ with serving potential jail time or house arrest after historic conviction https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/02/politics/donald-trump-possible-jail-time-house-arrest/index.html
A Morning Consult survey finds that 54% of voters approved (“strongly” or “somewhat”) of the verdict in Donald Trump’s hushed money criminal case. In addition, 15% of Republican voters, 8% of Trump supporters, and 49% of independents thought he should end his presidential bid.
New York Times: “Although Mr. Trump proclaimed at a news conference on Friday that he had plenty of ammunition to overturn what he called ‘this scam,’ several legal experts cast doubt on his chances of success, and noted that the case could take years to snake through the courts.” “And so, after a five-year investigation and a seven-week trial, Mr. Trump’s New York legal odyssey is only beginning, all but ensuring he will still be a felon when voters head to the polls in November.”
I will note that there was a poll before the conviction that showed that 6% of voters who voted for Trump in 2020 would be less likely to vote from him if he was convicted in the N.Y. criminal trial. This means that a very small number of actual Trump voters in 2020 are likely to change their vote in the 2024 general election.
Same poll only had Biden up by a point, and it didn't include 3rd party candidates. The Democrat also needs to win the popular vote by 4 points or more because of The EC.
