His TARP flip-flop has to go down as one of the greatest bait & switches of all time.

He is unintentionally becoming the only Austrian/neo-classical liquidationist candidate in the Bush administration. Schumpter could only dream of achieving this level of "creative destruction".

  3. True. But you have to give the the guy credit for facing down and conning Congress out of trillions of taxpayer money. Too bad he's not on our side...

  4. Paulson has done exactly what he intended to do. He has accomplished his mission. He has transferred a tremendous sum of wealth from the working class to the elite banker class. That's the whole point. They didn't actually expect it to fix the situation, they just figured they could use the situation to steal $700B. And they did. Mission accomplished.

Have you seen the bank share prices recently? If this was a conspiracy to make bankers wealthy then it is the most spectacularly failed conspiracy since Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot.

  6. I disagree......he did not CON the "NO" voters like Ron Paul. The rest of congress layed down and smiled back as they were getting raped.....and even kissed him when he was done!!!

    :D :p

  7. President Paulson, soon to be followed by President Corzine. They both made such a success of Goldman Sachs. How is that business doing now???

  8. The CENTRAL bankers have become exponentially wealthy as a result of the financial grid takeover. Their agenda's are not on the same timeline as just what we see today......they have been consolidating wealth and power and they are NOT DONE yet! There will be more to come as their priority is to weaken all outside players FIRST....the days ahead in the future as assets regain value will be their icing on the cake....they can AFFORD to wait!

Their plan to take over the financial grid with OPM (tax dollars) has been brilliant so far........shock and awe on a financial scale NEVER seen before!

Central bankers are already wealthy - did you see how much Greenspan got for his autobiography? If they want even more then they would move on to private business i.e. the BANKING sector, and get nice cushy 7 or 8 figure bonuses and share options. How are they going to do that with bank stocks in the toilet?

Government officials typically do not try to expand their power bases by sending their country's economy down the toilet. Weak economy = weak country = less powerful government. It was the USA not Germany and Japan that won WWII, purely because of economic strength. Look at China who are pursuing economic power for political reasons.

If central banking was a conspiracy to make money for a small number of government bureaucrats, it would have happened a bit earlier than 95 years after the Fed was founded.

  10. Where are the Paulson cheerleaders on this board now, why aren't they putting up for their guy?
Bush should fire Cheney and then quit himself, send congress home and bring our troops home for the holidays, and let us all have a break from our governments screw ups. A couple of months of government inactivity could only help.
