They are currently vastly under-counted. Anyone who claims they are greatly over-counted is just pushing a conspiracy narrative backed by no realistic evidence.
What is your evidence that they are under-counted in the USA? I could see that being the case in China where the data they are providing is likely a total fraud...probably over one million dead there.
Says the guy pushing the narrative on how deadly the virus is and how we should all lock ourselves away for the next 10 years.
The only narrative I have been providing is that the best scientific path should be followed in terms of public health policy for COVID-19, a novel disease with no vaccine and no highly effective drug treatments. The best path is to have a 60 day lock-down with a staged re-opening with clear entry/exit criteria for each stage. This is the path that the U.S. is following. Your absurd claim that I somehow push that we should lock ourselves away for the next 10 years is beyond disingenuous.
Haven’t there been a significant number of healthcare worker deaths? You don’t see this with the regular flu. Not like this. To me, this is what gives the seriousness of COVID-19 undeniable credibility. It looks like the US is getting ready to reopen and most still don’t know how to properly wear a mask or the need for eye protection. Anyways, time for a sandwich from a fast food restaurant... By the way, reopening implies that shutting things down in the first place was not necessary. Letting COVID-19 running rampant was a arguably reasonable decision. Almost total lockdown with an extensive effort to protect the elderly was another arguably reasonable decision. But what we did and are in the process of doing is unarguably stupid. We spent $4T and broke our economy for what? Only to have COVID-19 run rampant anyway, through secondary infections? We will survive this pandemic one way or another, but the real question in my mind is will we survive our leadership, either our current leadership or post 2020.
The 10 years was - I would have thought - obvious hyperbole not to be taken literally. I guess I was wrong. You are an IT expert. I should say you're in the IT field, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt on your level of proficiency as your past posting (before you came back in the hysterical we're all going to die stage) seemed to me to be on the level and highly competent. On the subject of viruses, you're suddely an expert and the thought that you somehow have the "right" data and the "correct" path in an age where all of the data cannot be trusted and there are obvious flaws on all sorts of decisions that were made along the way, and you're supporting recommendations from the "professionals" and organizations that have made many of these flawed proclamations is utterly laughable. What's even more tragic (laughable is sarcasm, in case you decide to go down the literal path again) is your past critical thinking skills have failed and all you do is embrace group think of these supposed scientific experts and parrot them back to us on these boards. You are one step away from becoming the Futurecurrents of Covid. Congratulations. I never thought someone could follow in that clown's footsteps.
