Medicare is no where in constitution as well. Just dig up history articles are read about the firestorm it caused. Similar forces were yelling similar slogans. And guess what, America did not turn to communism because of it. It is a hugely popular program that helps millions of Americans.

ACA could be a failure or it could turn into a huge success. My point is only passage of time will show who is right or wrong.

Nobody is required to sign up with medicare. You do not have to pay any money if you don't want to. I'd say that is a pretty substantial difference.

The reason anyone with a brain who is not filthy rich does sign up for it is because it is subsidized and better than any deal out there. As a result, it is projected to nearly bankrupt the country somewhere down the line.

The gov't cannot even pretend to subsidize the entire country with obamacare like it does with medicare. So, most people will be forced to pay for their obamacare and get, most likely, something less than they pay for, rather than more as in medicare, because they are subsidizing the people at the low end who don't pay.

The difference in medicare from obamacare is large enough to drive a million trucks through. They are not anything alike.

I pointed out Medicare not to compare the two, but to point out that all those, who were claiming that it is communism and a terrible idea that Americans would reject, were proven wrong.

Think about car insurance. No one is forcing you to buy a car, but once you buy it, government is forcing you to buy a totally different product called insurance. One can not go without the other.

There are many things that the government is forcing us to do. There used to be no income tax for example. Some are bad some are good.

It is not known yet which camp ACA will fall into.

While I am healthy, my most favorite part of ACA is preexisting conditions. This is a huge problem for families who face it. It is a small % of populations, but it carries a huge tall.

I know few people who cling to their jobs for the sole purpose of having employer's insurance. They will be looking for other options, including starting their own business, once ACA kicks in full gear.

Let's wait and see before passing a judgement.

Which is exactly why it should not exist.
No but we did take a giant step toward socialism with it's implementation.
Seems like I recall hearing this "logic" from it's proponents before.

Something along the lines of "we need to pass it to find out what's in it" rings a bell.

Let me ask you Duke. Are you so enamored with the idea of a few extra people being covered. That you're willing to take it up the ass with yet another inefficient poorly managed enormously expensive behemoth bureaucracy to achieve such a small gain?

OK hypothetically speaking lets say it's a colossal failure. Like so many other federal programs and agencies. Is it your contention that then congress will finally and suddenly bend to the current will of the people and strike it down or overhaul it? You know, like they've done with so many of the other federal failures?

That could have been dealt with without screwing the millions who were happy.

Regarding Medicare: Was it passed with a super majority without a single vote from the opposition (I don't recall...serious question)?

A temporary congress foisted a tremendous bill down the rest of our throats with ACA, insisting that we will not know what was in it untill it passed. No one in congress bothered to read it, mostly because the opposition wasn't given time to read it, nor was the public (see first sentence this paragraph). Why should it be surprising that half the country or more hates it? Wait till the tab hits the middle class. I've already had most of the docs I liked suddenly retire. It took years to find ones I liked. I'm reading horror stories about insurance price increases for many already who can't afford it. The list is just beginning.

I'll say this: People should really do their homework when they vote. Seriously...both parties.

8. Ha I called my ins co yesterday, I had some free time and I wanted to see what the big deal is here.

Bronze pays 60% of costs = 401 month
Silver pays 70%= 478
Gold pays 80% = 563 month
Plat pays 90% = 644 month

Currently i pay 360 a month and i kid you not my ins pays almost 100%,

9. Yeah, as these plans roll out I'm curious to see what they will and won't cover, what the deductibles are going to be, and what the fine print really says? My guess is it'll be what I've been saying all along. We'll all pay more for less.

10. Might as well not have any but the Platinum. Any kind of hospital stay has the potential of running $100K+... and if your plan makes you pay 20-40% if that, most folks would be hosed.

So... you're soon to get much shittier coverage and substantially higher price. Didn't Odumbo/Pelosi promise "premium savings"?

Lying bastards!
