I don't want to misleading the initial idea of the poster nor create a controversy here.

I think you guys are missing the point .

From my point of view , NQ and ES don't change places between leading and lagging.

NQ leads up and down and I've posted the reasons why I think that in my prior post.

The point you're missing is the NQ/ ES spread .

Those divergences can help you to positioning yourself into the side of the market main trend or warning you about a market correction. (i.e if the NQ moves to a higher high but the ES trade to a lower high there's a chance for a market correction )

Bigger the spread , bigger the chance for a correction to follow.

Is just another way to gauge the market strength or weakness.

However for those of you who agreed with the switching rolls of the NQ and ES I'd like to ask if you would kindly elaborate the reasons why do you stated that ?

My apologies to friend Fast for this intromission .

  4. I use only ES data. As others have already mentioned, sometimes certain markets or indices lead ES and sometimes they lag. How reliable is that? Further, it goes without saying that these other markets' setups and/or signals are also not completely reliable. Shall we calculate the joint probabilities of success, then? On balance, I think they add more confusion than clarity. I think that intermarket analysis reads far better in a book with carefully selected examples than it does in actual trading. But that is just my opinion.

  5. I will conquer with Ditch that these two symbols change roles. I only watch es, nothing else, more you watch more you'll be confused. Somebody said it correctly paralysis by analysis. I think you just learn to follow es or nq and know their personality and see what is happeing in charts, they don't lie. It is my personal opinion though. Your style of trading may be different.

  6. Fast...
    thanks for starting the thread.....
Everyone had good points....in thinking about this....I couldn't say I remain fixated all day on making sure everything confirms....I observe casually and when a divergence is STRIKING....thats when I find it usefull.

I just find ES leads YM most of the time. If you are trading ES then concentrate on ES. If I'm checking out the broads boobs, her hair , her face her sexy shape I totally miss she has a bullshit personality.

  8. i think Taodr is on to something.....next week I am just going to watch ES and hire a nude dancer and watch her......I will advise of any correlation.

Seriously....the importantant thing with trading futures is the discipline......

  9. How can something that is (mostly) random being lead by something? Allowing for your "mostly" the relationship to the ES can be "at most" very weak.

    nononsense

WATCH ES if you trade ES.
2-5-15-60 min and you will make consistant Kah-Chingo!
Watching NQ I have found to be counter productive.

A nice bare naked pair of 20 something TATAS will help you concentrate @ 4:15 on your next trade!

    Have a nice weekend all!
