Newton defined and measured gravity. We got to the moon using Newtonian physics. Using general relativity would have overly complicated the process.

  2. Gravity absolutely cannot be measured.

If you think it can, this just demonstrates how unscientific you actually are, and/or what a weak and paltry education you received...

This is what happens when people like 777 get their "science" from a religious website. They actually believe nonsense like "gravity can't be measured" or the Big Bang theory assumes "something out of nothing."

Willful ignorance is a terrible state of mind.

  3. People have defined God, so there goes that "Newton defined" crapola.

    Newton never, ever measured gravity.

Oh, we got to the moon on the basis of ideas, mathematics, abstract thinking, etc.

All of which are non physical and in themselves unmeasurable.

I'm sure you think you're speaking English, but all I'm seeing is noise. How very sad it is to be 777.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Gravity is measured everytime you step on the bathroom scale. The attractive force between your mass and the Earth's mass at distance y equals x.

  6. It was you who brought up moby dick to prove your effete nature and worship of academic uselessness, was it not?

  7. if it came down to a choice which world do you think most educated thinking people would be comfortable living in. a fundamentalist religious world or a secular world? [/B][/QUOTE]

I'd rather live in a secular world which provides for religious freedom, which is what I thought we were suppose to be doing. The zealots on both sides have so contaminated the issues it has become impossible to have a sane, rational discussion about anything.

    sooooo,

there is a god because YOU don't understand one little minuscule part of physics?

Shake me and my confidence, about a great many things
But I've been there, I can see it cower
Like a nervous magician waiting in the wings
Of a bad play where the heroes are right
And nobody thinks or expects too much
And Hollywood's calling for the movie rights
Singin', hey, babe, let's keep in touch
Hey, baby, let's keep in touch
But I want more than a touch, I want you to reach me
And show me all the things no one else can see
So what ya feel becomes mine as well
And soon if we're lucky, we'd be unable to tell
What's yours and mine, the fishing's fine
And it doesn't have to rhyme
so don't you feed me a line
    But you??!!??

Why you wanna give me a run-around?

thats exactly what we have. you are free to believe whatever you want to in your homes and churches. but you can not come into the public arena and promote superstition as truth unchallenged.
how do you propose we have a sane rational discussion with a person who insists an invisible man in the sky picked up an hand full of dirt and made man from it?
